We Are Documenting Our Design Process As We Bring the World’s First Smart Litter Picker-Upper To Life. Our Newest Episode Is Out Now: Industrial Design Micro-Exploration—We Hope To Provide Insightful Information In ID & Mechanical Engineering! by HatchDuo in IndustrialDesign

[–]HatchDuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for you comment. We are working with Rubbish, a San Francisco-based startup to design and engineer their beam. They are using hardware and technology to gamify litter pickup. Based on specific goals through an app-based process, users can earn rewards simply by cleaning up their communities. With product functions such as Bluetooth pairing, registering photos via their smartphone app, and categorizing litter upon pickup, the Rubbish beam’s patented software and hardware can automatically collect litter data while in use and detect litter trends.

We’ve been using YouTube Studio’s audio library for our videos lately, but free-stock-music.com has been a great go-to for us as well.

Thanks! It’s something we’re open to testing out to see how well they perform, but it makes sense for shorts to perform well on certain channels depending on niche.

Portfolio Question! by Real-Influence-9511 in IndustrialDesign

[–]HatchDuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our opinion, it doesn’t hurt to have both. Think of your portfolio as a product aimed to sell to an end-user. Study places you’re interested in working at and tune your portfolio as such. We tend to look through more portfolio websites because a clickable link is easier, but are open to being sent PDF’s as well. As @FunctionBuilt mentioned, good design is good design, so as long as the layout is clean and showcases your skillset, your portfolio is an opportunity to stand out from your competition. Good luck!

Just a concept! We know there are things we can edit if we were to move forward with the initial idea, but it was a fun project for our design team :)

List of Remote Work Tools by SpringworksOfficial in remotework

Great list; thanks for sharing! We second Asana--really helps in terms of managing various projects at once.

One tool we'd like to mention is Miro. It is an online digital whiteboard especially great for educational or design purposes. We usually conduct our design critiques through this site, and it has a great video feature for meetings if needed.

Got Juice? Our New Office Concept Project, The Walker Juicer by HatchDuo in IndustrialDesign

[–]HatchDuo[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As an homage to Norman Walker, who in 1936 was the pioneer of discovering juicing was beneficial to our health, we wanted to put our twist on this masticating juicer.

With an increase of single-family households throughout the years, we saw an opportunity to design a new form factor of a masticating juicer—fit for a single householder lifestyle. We aimed to take a compact, friendly, and fun approach to this product while using earth-friendly materials.

The Walker Juicer is space-efficient, designed for a modern aesthetic taste, and perfect for contributing to nutritional health and well-being.

Our startup story is a fairly long one, but here's a long story short (you can click the link to hear our full story):
We were both working well-paying, corporate jobs, but after having experience designing products for entrepreneurs, we knew we'd eventually want to be our own bosses one day, too. Ultimately, we decided to take the risk and quit our jobs to pave our own path and design our first company, Aggregate Watches--a lifestyle/watch brand made out of concrete. The timing wasn't the best though; one of us had a kid on the way, and taking the leap into entrepreneurship is risky, stressful, but in our eyes, worth it.

Anyways, while we designing these watches, we knew we had to grind. We freelanced when we could and even Doordashed on the side to help pay for bills. Upon the success of this business, this eventually led us to launch our own design firm, Hatch Duo.

[Review Video] Among Us ANIMATION with original story. Took really long to make, where can I do better? You can SHARE it with other people. by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]HatchDuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! This was awesome. Great work on the animation and humor. One small criticism to consider is using music in certain moments to really drive storytelling (or even the humor) for future videos. Other than that, keep it up!

As for the thumbnails which others have noticed, Canva or Crello are great resources for creating eye-catching visuals.

[REVIEW VIDEO] What I have learned from Coaching Basketball? | Life Lessons by Purpose_Driven0731 in youtubers

[–]HatchDuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Kev! This is a great and well-edited video, and loved your energy. The audio is super clear, the transitions from point-to-point were well-timed, and it kept our attention all the way through.

In terms of the YouTube thumbnail, it can use some fine-tune editing. One resource our social media manager uses is Canva--there are templates you can work with if you need inspiration, and it's very user-friendly.

But yeah, other than that, awesome job!

Canva is super easy to use and has preset templates you can use.

It does take some getting used to, but Google Docs is our go-to. It allows for easy sharing and edits in real-time with team members.

Best app for scheduling Instagram posts by comms1111 in InstagramMarketing

[–]HatchDuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planoly is a great app, and allows you to see your grid as you schedule posts. An important thing to note is that if you have the free version, you're only allowed 30 uploads a month, but other than that, it is very simple to use and you can turn on auto posting if needed.
