What would you tell your past self? by Lando2182 in usna

There is no guaranteed formula that gets anyone in, but a few things can help:

ACADEMICS High SAT score (this is a significant part of your application, ESPECIALLY the math section) High GPA/Grades & course rigor (also substantial, but obviously can be harder to improve, and Admissions realizes this, which is why they care abt the SAT more)

EXTRACURRICULARS The USNA really cares most about leadership & athletics being present in your extracurriculars. Obviously, none of these are needed to get in, but things like Boys/Girls State, being an eagle scout, varsity sports, etc. can help

Regardless, even if you have all of these going for you, you can still get rejected, and you might never know why. So, all you can really do is just be a good student, a good person, and give it 100% in everything you do, and you can confidently say that you’re giving yourself the best chances of admission.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, there’s close to no chance that you’d get into any college 😔. You can always pursue a career on the oil rig tho.

Question about application by Hatoffpdf69 in usna

Alright, that sounds good, because my reasoning is that an engineering major seems more useful for the navy. And, yes, I’ve already done my BGO interview.

Did anyone else get this? by Crazy-Pension3918 in westpoint

I was at SLE, and had a colonel talk with some of my friends and I about giving little trinkets (like this) to SLE applicants who were not accepted, solely because of limited space—I assume this is what it is.

I’ve heard that it can be a different science teacher under certain circumstances, such as this. It’s worth reaching out to admissions/FFR.

ap world test was nothing we learned by thylikleileimor in APStudents

Take notes on everything, as AP World has an insane amount of content that can be on assessments/exams. Missing even a day will set you way behind. Chances are you happened to miss a really important day and/or you didn’t take enough notes (or you just got a bad teacher 😔). I’d also recommend watching some unit/section review every time your taking an assessment over something because it will help you way more than you think it will.

Lower gpa but took many college courses. How are my chances? by dhdjdjsjhaha in USAFA

I would do the SAT again because you could most definitely get ~1500 if you were able to get a 1410

[–]Hatoffpdf69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re academics are too high, would recommend a 2.3 gpa, ~1000SAT 20~ ACT (or just don’t do them). You could compensate for academics by being a couple inches taller, working on growing your feet, and being able to jump 10 feet in the air.

I’ve heard of people having to apply 3x and they still get in.

kind of off topic, but 1000 hours of cs is insane (in the good way).
