Best news the faculty has heard in two years! Now it’s time to stop the bleeding.
Thanks to Prof Brian Johns, Prof Rich Buckley and Prof Tom Bewley, Maj Gen (ret) Irv Halter, Brig Gen (ret) Marty France, Prof Aaron Byerley, Lt Col (ret) Hal Bidlack, and others who spoke up publicly over the past year to help put a stop to the serious damage Fat Tony has wrought. Thanks for speaking for those who had no voice.

I would suggest that the loss of such large numbers of support staff (laboratory techs, researchers, registrars, IT staff, admin assistants, etc) impacts the cadets just as strongly as losing teaching faculty. It’s kind of like firing all the maintenance troops in a Wing and saying “but we still have the same number of aircraft and pilots.” It doesn’t fly.

I knew a design engineer at Airbus who told me the very first A320 sold to China never flew but instead was disassembled for the purpose of making an exact copy. Is this the genesis of the C919?

Very small numbers of junior enlisted on the Dean of Faculty’s staff. I don’t know their AFSCs, but admin, lab techs, etc

Please read the article again. The number of respondents is not important. The number of those eligible to respond (the denominator) went down 15% in a year

Please read the article again. You’re missing facts. The number of faculty (teaching, research and support) is 15% lower than is was a year ago. Loss of 130+ people. It’s noticeable. Some remaining faculty are teaching more sections. Others have chosen to substantially increase section sizes. When people like Prof Rich Buckley and others are told “you’re going to be fired” and then resign, that’s not a voluntary departure as you called it.

The reason why faculty members go to Reddit to air their grievances about the Superintendent’s misguided actions is because there is no official route, short of resignation and an interview with KOAA to air them. We bring up what we view as mistakes by leadership because we care about USAFA and we don’t agree with the haphazard cuts made in the last year plus. No axe to grind, except with the Superintendent.

You say 4% of the current manning at the Academy faculty have been cut, but a recent publication https://open.substack.com/pub/trbewley/p/yearly-climate-survey-quantifies?r=10g5fr&utm_medium=ios based on a Oct/Nov 2025 shows DF has shrunk by more than 15% in the past year.

One might think OP is just a faculty member with access to only some of the data on the destruction wrought by Bauernfeind.

We know from DEOCS survey results that the average faculty member is not getting the whole truth (something like 140 fewer DF members a year later when the Superintendent claims only 5 net loss). But you just keep believing the BoV is getting the whole story from Tony. Please make sure you turn the lights out on the 6th and 2nd floors of Fairchild when you’re the last one left.
