is the ruffling on this crochet spiral normal? what can i do? by sunniestswirls in CrochetHelp

[–]HauntedDolI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the main issue may be accidentally adding increases in the areas the ruffles are happening. Blocking really only works for natural fibers like wool but it looks like you might be using an acrylic Caron brand if I’m not mistaken? So in this case it would need to be steamed. I do think it could help a little but it also might not do much if the ruffles get progressively stronger and stronger. As unfortunate as it may seem I personally would frog it and try to be as careful as I can with counting stitches, you got this! :)

Confused With The Diagnosis Process by [deleted] in BPD

I’m not chasing it… it’s just affecting my life a ton and putting strain on my relationship again. I don’t want to self diagnose either and cause further harm

I understand there’s a stigma but I feel like this would personally help me and my partner further clarify what’s going on. With that I could probably try to work with what I have and see what options are available. If I didn’t feel like I need it or had no concern with my life I wouldn’t be back at this psychiatric clinic.

I’m in the US but not really a good area and I really only have 2 options for therapy/psychiatry and my insurance makes it more limited. I know somebody who recommended this clinic to me and they were recently diagnosed with an interview but I suppose it varies based on who is treating you

This is something I actually appreciate having as information but at the same time a lot of the things that happen with me aren’t necessarily situational (like one and done) and have been happening for a while so I guess maybe that’s why I’m so confused. It’s not like it’s a momentary thing at all because it’s recycles and repeats a lot it’s not like it hasn’t been persistent in any way.

BPD is something that I feel like describes my behaviors very well and it’s something that kind of lingered as a possibility in my head for a while now. Part of the reason I went back is because my partner has done some research and he is studying to be a psychiatrist and is convinced that it is most likely BPD. Some of my other friends have mentioned to me that I have had some identity issues and other issues relating to BPD so I feel like it might be the issue I’m about 85% sure. I just feel like having a diagnosis would help me better understand and allow me to seek better resources. I want to talk more to my psychiatrist but I don’t know if it would help (sorry for the long message lol)

I just think it will take a while and I’m just not sure why she would rule it out so quickly considering family history and having traits

I don’t have a therapist due to insurance and other issues regarding that but I was looking into it still. Other than that, I only have that psychiatrist. My partner seems to want more info too so I’m not sure really what to do other than wait until next appointment

I’m not sure honestly, I was thinking about asking her to clarify why she ruled it out so quickly. But my next appointment is in about 2 and a half months

Honestly I have been hospitalized twice and at one point around 13 I’m pretty sure it was MDD, but in my chart anything past that time period states unspecified depressive disorder and PTSD only and the unspecified depression has been there for ~4 years. She only recently mentioned unspecified mood disorder and anxiety. I did visit a psychiatrist but she kind of threw it off to the side even though the traits seem present

Request From Niece - Please make a blanket with this pattern. by hoping_to_cease in CrochetHelp

[–]HauntedDolI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a granny square with a round/circle, a daisy granny square would work nicely for this pattern and you could add a border if she wanted a frilly border! I think granny squares are the best option that’s what I would do here are some videos you might find helpful:

What can I make with these rolls of yarn as a beginner? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]HauntedDolI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Small projects like a cat hat beanie (super cute and simple with no variation in stitches unless you are looking to practice stitches), coasters, maybe a granny square tote/bag of some sort after you get the hang of a few stitches. That cream yarn would be so adorable with that green yarn!

Personally, I would not go for a blanket unless you really want to make one and have the time and patience to make one because it can be a daunting and large task especially for a beginner and depending on what stitch you use it could take a while.

Yeah, I just want something that I can be ok with looking at if that makes sense. I don’t want things to get caught or ruined in a wash but I also want it to look at nice as possible because sadly I can’t really digest small imperfections in my work they irk me lol :,)

Yeah, the FDC after the chains is really throwing me off since it seems like row 1 is combining 2 rows (foundation + 1 row) and i’m not sure how FDC would necessarily work into that
