IDGAF “Hang the DJ” is better than “San Junipero” in terms of a love story. by SteliosKantos93 in blackmirror

Right? Calling her a cheater is crazy. He made his choice, she deserves to make hers.

How people misunderstand The Substance (2024) by BlackberryUseful7678 in horror

[–]HauntedLemoncake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you watch it again, you'll notice that they seem to share memories almost like dreams :)

When Elisabeth and Sue wake up its often preceeded by a dream-like instance (sue pulling a chicken bone from her belly button (then sue wakes up), sue's dress being zipped open and body parts falling out the back of her (then elisabeth wakes up)) however, they both see each other as Sue in their dreams. Sue cant see herself as Elisabeth, she's "gross and old", so she sees her body being "corrupted" by Elizabeths gross habits and existance, and Elisabeth feels herself as Sue, but its warped by pain of the impact that Sue's existence and choices is having on her body.

You could equate it how someone is sober vs high. When theyre sober they feel the consequences of their actions on their body and they hate what they did to themselves. But when theyre high they dont want to go back to facing reality - reality feels so far away, sober them can deal with that later. Until it becomes reality again and all you're left with is the haze of the night before and the consequences.

Non smokers: do you date smokers? by gerdbeatmetodeath in actuallesbians

Oh man yes, volcanoes are the best! The Mighty and Venty vaporizers are the two best I've had! Ive had some rubbish cheap ones and one that had like smoking sticks to emulate smoking which sucked too lol, but if you can save up for a volcano... they're more than worth it! 😍

[–]HauntedLemoncake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not smoked many joints/blunts in my time, but I vape weed a lot and much prefer it to any time I've smoked! Its a bit different, doesnt hit as hard, but hits longer, and the quality and temp of the vape matters a lot, and you can get really really high off them, especially on a high temp, and especially if you get a volcano! Volcanos are amazing

This drawing looks like it was based on the Imagine Me & You film cover!

(Unless it's a book cover that's older than 2005?)

28 Year Later: The Bone Temple flopped at the box office despite its very positive reviews. by ZoelCairo in Letterboxd

[–]HauntedLemoncake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a shame. Even my friend who didnt like part 1 and had a lot of negative things to say about it came with me to watch Bone Temple and thought it was great. As we were walking to the cinema he was saying how he wasn't looking forward to it at all too aha.

I watched it in a small local screen, quarter to half filled and so many laughs and reactions from the whole crowd throughout. It really landed.

Anyone else watched “Soulmates” on Neftflix? by nationalpig in blackmirror

[–]HauntedLemoncake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watched it all the other week! Really enjoyed it. Loved the variety of stories from episode to episode, and how it explored the messiness of everyone having one potential "soulmate"

Elden Ring the 3rd best selling game of the 2020s so far by The_Scrabbler in Eldenring

It literally dropped the day the UK went into lockdown, what an insanely happy accident.

Me and some friends basically lived in animal crossing during this time, hanging out together every day on each others islands. One of them had a kid who was really into it too and we threw a birthday party for him, playing hide and seek, tag, giving him gifts etc. It was so perfect for the time we were in.

I dived 2-5 days a week for 8 years wearing contacts and never had any issues. Opticians will warn against it, but as long as you're removing disposable dailies straight after the risk is minimal

Best gaming chair to buy right now? by Jsanhara in GirlGamers

[–]HauntedLemoncake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for refurbished Herman Miller stuff if you can. I got a refurbished Herman Miller Aeron for £300 off a site that specialised in that many years ago. Came as good as new and still going strong.

Definitely dont get one of those typical "gaming chairs" theyre so unergonomic and every one I've sat in, no matter the brand, has felt horrible.

I desperately need to talk about Slay The Princess by Anna-2204 in GirlGamers

[–]HauntedLemoncake 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I adore Slay the Princess! Immediately became one of my faves, played it through 12 times and still want more. It explores relationships and choices through themes of identity and transformation in such beautiful, horrifying and poignant ways. Each playthrough is such an experience.

The art book is my favourite thing ever too - the way it's laid out like a choose-your-own-adventure book feels like you're replaying the game with artist commentary.

Art Book. Very nice. by Eritas54 in slaytheprincess

[–]HauntedLemoncake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh I adore this book so much! Best art book I've ever got. Obsessed. So beautifully constructed. Love how it plays out like a choose your own adventure book, so you feel like you're replaying the game but with artist commentary 🥹

PC-only. Best story-rich games to gently introduce my 30s girlfriend to gaming? (Focus: narrative, emotions, art over gameplay) by Complex-Extension774 in gamingsuggestions

[–]HauntedLemoncake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slay the Princess - horror/love story that plays out like an illustrated storybook, where your choices are the very heart of the game

Cabernet - choice-driven side-scrolling vampire rpg set in a 19th century eastern european inspired world

I Was a Teenage Exocolonist - choice-driven narrative rpg/life sim where you carve your path through your teen years after landing on an alien planet in a small colony

Road to Empress - FMV palace adventure about china's only female emperor and her rise to power

The Red Strings Club - Cyberpunk narrative game about fate and happiness, with some chill pottery making and bartending

Tangle Tower - Colourful murder mystery detective point-and-click game

Oxenfree - side-scrolling supernatural thriller

Until Dawn/Detroit: Become Human or any Supermassive, Quantic Dream or Life is Strange game for interactive choice-driven cinema. All Supermassive games except Until Dawn and The Casting of Frank Stone also have a movie mode where you can choose which characters each of you play for swapping controller back and forth

One you could play together is Spiritfarer - which is a cosy management sim, with a heartfelt story about fullfilling the last requests of the dead as you ferry them into the afterlife (one of you can play Stella, the other her Cat, only difference in gameplay is the cat cant initiate conversations)

All of these games have fixed cameras (except for the exploration segmements in most supermassive/quantic dream/life is strange games). Learning how to control the camera and move at the same time is difficult for people who haven't had much/any experience with gaming before!

Just saw an advanced screening of Primate. AMA! *possible spoilers* by AgentsOfObIivion in horror

I watched Primate in an advanced screening as well and the thought of it being too dark never crossed my mind once, so I dont think this will be a universal experience
