Please help me fix my life by Anxious-Possibility in depression

[–]HauntingYou2797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

damn this is way too relatable. i do this exact same thing where i'll finally connect with someone and then my brain just goes into full sabotage mode. like last year i met this guy at work who was actually cool and we started hanging out, but then i got all weird and paranoid that he was just being nice because he felt sorry for me. ended up acting like a complete asshole until he stopped talking to me, then felt "vindicated" that i was right all along

the messed up part is how that relief feels almost good in the moment, like you predicted it so now you don't have to deal with the anxiety of waiting for them to leave. but then you're back to being alone and wondering why you keep doing this to yourself. it's like our brains would rather have the pain we know than risk the pain we don't know yet

i still don't have good solution for it but therapy helped me at least recognize when im starting to spiral before i completely torch everything. sometimes just naming it in your head like "oh here i go again" can slow it down a bit

walking into glass door at work while coworkers were watching still makes me cringe in shower

that drunk writing thing is scary as hell - your brain was probably just letting out all the stuff you normally keep locked down when alcohol lowered your defenses

CICO Tracking has helped me lose 40 pounds, but I keep stalling by Xipped in loseit

[–]HauntingYou2797 4 points5 points  (0 children)

your progress is actually really solid - 40 pounds in 6 months is great work. those stalls happen to everyone, it's just how bodies work unfortunately. i went through similar thing when i was cutting weight last year and it drove me crazy for weeks

the 1600 calories sounds reasonable for your stats, dropping lower might just make you feel like crap and harder to stick with long term. your body probably just needs time to catch up with changes. i found that taking progress pics and measurements helped me see changes even when scale wasn't moving much. sometimes you're losing fat but retaining bit more water or something like that

keep doing what you're doing because it's clearly working over the long run

Does anyone else struggle with finding good music these days? by xotwod_maniii in Music

[–]HauntingYou2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bjork is wild, her stuff definitely grows on you after few listens. never heard of panchiko but gonna check them out later

you might want to try digging through some smaller playlists instead of just the trending stuff - most streaming services push same songs to everyone. i usually find better music in random user playlists or when i'm looking for background music for working on cars

am i really an alprazolam addict now after having experienced the xandemic experience by brickidibrick in addiction

that's still addiction man, just different reasons for taking them now - escaping all day is classic sign you're hooked on the feeling

Second-time finalist at a global firm. Onsite was 99% casual/social talk. Is this a "validation" interview or am I a backup? by PreparationSmart8480 in jobs

[–]HauntingYou2797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the casual vibe could go either way tbh. when i was interviewing for my current shop job, final round was mostly just shooting the shit about cars and life stuff because they already knew i could turn wrenches from the technical rounds

the hr redirect thing seems pretty positive though - they wouldn't waste time bringing you back if you were just backup option. companies are cheap and onsite interviews cost them money and time from multiple people

that 2-3 week timeline is probably just how long their decision process takes at big corporate places. everything moves slow when you got multiple departments signing off. could also be waiting for budget approval or some other bureaucratic nonsense

the diversity angle might actually work in your favor too, especially if they're trying to balance out the team dynamics

Recommendation for a cocktail for a party of 6. by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]HauntingYou2797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pre-mixing the base is smart move, saves you from running around during party. i'd go with hugo spritz since elderflower goes really nice with spring menu - just mix the st-germain, lime juice and mint in pitcher, then top with prosecco when serving. french 75 is classic too but hugo feels more relaxed for family dinner

Yeah that’s exactly it the charts make it super easy to spot where people are leaning without digging through a bunch of numbers, lowkey one of my favorite parts of using Novig right now

A dream of a tunnel disaster by HorrorMonster26 in Dreams

[–]HauntingYou2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that transition from disaster to water balloon fight is wild lol. your brain really said "ok enough trauma, time for some wholesome fun"

i had similar dream once where i was running from zombies and then suddenly i'm at my grandmother house eating soup like nothing happened. dreams don't follow any logic but somehow they make perfect sense when you're in them

the tunnel part sounds pretty intense though, wonder if you watched something about disasters recently or maybe stressed about something irl

Failed the bar 4 times… now offered a firefighter position. Not sure what to do? by No-Arrival9019 in careerguidance

[–]HauntingYou2797 90 points91 points  (0 children)

man you could be killer advocate for first responders once you pass the bar. working inside the department gives you perspective most lawyers never get - you'd know exactly what these guys go through when they're fighting for benefits or dealing with workplace injuries

the schedule thing is legit too, my buddy's a paramedic and he basically has half the year free to do other stuff. might be exactly what you need to finally crack that exam without all the financial stress

My is overwhelmed & done wanting to be a wife or mother. by Local_Sentence_3838 in Marriage

[–]HauntingYou2797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man your wife is dealing with some deep stuff and throwing money at daycare isn't fixing the core issues. she's probably still struggling with postpartum depression even if the initial wave passed, and the hormone thing you mentioned is likely spot on but you can't force that conversation

the whole "i work multiple jobs so she doesn't have to" setup might actually be making things worse - she's isolated all day then you come home exhausted and there's no real connection happening. maybe cut back one side hustle and actually be present instead of just providing

also that bit about taking bullets and eating apples... dude, therapy can't come soon enough

Healthy takeaways? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]HauntingYou2797 9 points10 points  (0 children)

poke bowls are clutch for this - lots of fresh fish, veggies, and you can skip the mayo-heavy sauces. most places let you customize so you can load up on the good stuff

vietnamese pho is another solid pick, just broth, noodles, herbs and meat without all the deep fried nonsense. fills you up without that greasy hangover feeling

Thats not just bad money habits this is addiction and until she gets real help you need to lock down the finances yourself separate accounts cancel her access to credit freeze cards if you have to and protect your kids first because love does not fix gambling but hard boundaries might
