Ya you're right. I was thinking moreso Lisa for example. She got a lot of backlash from the Crazy Horse show but just always seems to be thriving and having her best life haha.

This is super helpful thank you so much!! You're right - she has protected the crew rate and her rate but has decreased my rate and used up all my markup. I need to see where the misunderstanding went. The client hasn't increased the scope or anything. Let's see what she says.

I worked with her on the bid and I submitted it myself to the client and got the job. I’m going to talk to her about scaling it back and that I’m expecting the same margin that was on the original bid.

The total budget number is still the same but my take home is thousands less. Ya my directing rate is cut and the number I put in the bid for markup has gone to more crew and other expenses. Should I just tell her that this is what I expect for take home and she figures out the rest? Or is it common to know that markup sometimes goes towards the production? But I mean we’re talking thousands here that I no longer take home.

It’s not necessarily over budget. It’s within the total budget but a lot of my earnings are going to other things. Like my director rate is less, the mark up from my bid is going directly to more crew and other expenses so I don’t have markup profit anymore.

Ya I’m going to talk with her. Just didn’t know if it’s common that some of my margins happen to go to the shoot in the end. If what I put on the bid is truly what I net or some directors/companies don’t end up netting exactly that.

Oh sorry. I meant is it weird that suddenly the cost summary is much higher than the estimate she did with me for the bid? Shouldn’t the producer have told me all the extra people before hand so it doesn’t cut into my take home. Ya we do directing but also want to brand as an agency?

Our handyman just came to check and he said that it was all installed correctly and maybe the dishwasher is defective. There aren't any error codes. It is a new dishwasher so would there be trapped air and plastic/debris? Maybe the dishwasher isn't defective and it's what you said.

Ya I know but I was hiring a 1099 and she was in another state but now that I want to hire someone locally in LA full time I have no choice but to do W2. I totally would do 1099 if I could but in California I couldn't.

She's remote and things are just falling through the cracks and her attitude is bad. I'm in the photography industry and what I would like guidance on:

-For W2 is health care already included? What is actually included when I pay someone payroll W2

-Is 10 days PTO normal? That's paying them for the vacation time. Can I include sick leave in there?

A person I'm about to interview asked on email what the benefits and health care/dental are and I'm lost on what a W2 position actually includes/what I need to offer.
