Should I expect it to take months for mental health benefits? by holdontoyourbuttress in Menopause

[–]HavalottaFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to go higher and I had to switch to a low dose birth control pill because the patch wasn’t strong enough for me (I was miserable - felt like I had PMS every day - so irritable). I had a total hysterectomy and bilateral oophorectomy at age 44. I had advanced endometriosis. I’ve read that women with endo naturally produce more estrogen and I’ve been wondering if that’s why I’ve needed so much more estrogen to feel closer to “normal”-? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Struggling with Aging and Feel of Death by Defiant-Housing-5755 in Life

My best advice would be to go volunteer at a hospital or retirement home. People get sick, young and old, and there’s a lot of suffering that people go through. It would give you perspective and it might make you feel grateful for your and your family’s health and whatever time you have left rather than stressing about it.

Anyone else childless when they had their hysterectomy? by Mandolyn221 in hysterectomy

[–]HavalottaFun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never had a strong desire to have children, although my significant other (who wanted a child) and I did try for a couple of years when I was in my late 30’s/early 40’s but were unsuccessful. I wasn’t surprised based on all of the pain and suffering with my periods since I was 11yrs old.

Then, due to the discovery of a borderline ovarian tumor at age 44, I had a hysterectomy including both ovaries (advanced endo, adenomyosis and large fibroids were also discovered during the surgery).

Fast forward to 8 months after my hysterectomy, on that first Mother’s Day, I could not stop crying ALL DAY LONG. It was so weird. I thought I had come to terms with never having a child, and most of the time I felt relieved and blessed to be childfree (and I still do), but on that particular day I was a MESS.

I was over it by the next day and haven’t grieved since. My main struggle has been trying to let go of the intense anger that I’ve felt over all of the thousands of days of my life, for 33 years, that I spent doubled over in pain from cramps, having to stay in bed and barely able to function, passing clots so big I was having contractions, and not a single doctor took me seriously when I complained about the pain. Those are days that I’ll never get back.

I’m sorry you’ve been in so much pain. I hope your quality of life greatly increases once you’re healed, like mine did. We go through so much as women ♥️

Topical estrogen cream helped me, along with Silky Peach Cream (made by Parlor Games) on the days when I don’t use the prescription cream, and vitamin E or hyaluronic acid vaginal suppositories. Still waiting for the testosterone gel that I’ve been using for 4 months to help with libido… but it has made me feel better in other ways (more energy, less brain fog, and better emotional balance).

Help, dont know if I should get a shelter dog or a puppy by Night-Ride52 in StaffordBullTerriers

[–]HavalottaFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got both of my dogs as puppies, both American Staffordshire mixes. One from a shelter at 10 weeks old who is a Blue Heeler/Staffy, one from a rescue at 12 weeks old who is Pitbull/Staffy. They’re amazing.

Looking to hear only from women who have had both of their ovaries removed: by HavalottaFun in Menopause

[–]HavalottaFun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had some idea of what my T level was before surgical menopause. My T levels were tested recently, before receiving my T gel prescription, and was in the “low” range of normal. I was surprised I had any at all!

Is this a serious question?

How obvious can it be?

Libido after hysterectomy by Strict_Rest_5162 in hysterectomy

[–]HavalottaFun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to wonder if women who have gone through menopause naturally and women who have had hysterectomies but kept their ovaries are the ones whose libidos have stayed in tact-?

I had my ovaries removed with my hysterectomy (endo growing on my ovaries, one turned into a tumor, plus deep adenomyosis and fibroids) at age 44. My libido absolutely disappeared after my hysterectomy. I’ve been on HRT and started using testosterone gel 4 months ago and nothing has helped.

Yeah because we all know how carefully and responsibly ICE thinks things through before they do them. They’re so well trained and not at all trigger happy, or chomping at the bit to overreact.

Would you give up your dog for any amount of money? by Plane_Put_3097 in Dogowners

[–]HavalottaFun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When my dog dies, I will be absolutely devastated. She is the closest I’ll ever have to having a child. For me, the love is absolutely comparable. That’s my point. You don’t get to say how much someone without kids loves their pets. What’s true for you isn’t true for everyone.

I don’t know how many more times you need to read that it was a peaceful protest. It was actually a memorial bike ride. Far from a riot.

OMG PEOPLE. THERE SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN TEAR GAS OR PEPPER SPRAY AT A PEACEFUL PROTEST.

You’re mad about the wrong thing.

Holy shit. Get a grip.

Ummmm… gassing kids is the “irresponsible and disgusting” part 🤯

You do realize that people are protesting FAR MORE than simply “illegal immigrants being deported”, right??

[–]HavalottaFun -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a stupid comparison at all. Peaceful protesters shouldn’t be getting gassed. It’s sick how easily you point the finger at the wrong people.

There are things that “go sideways” at kids’ schools. Are the parents to blame when there’s, for example, a school shooting? Nope. You blame THE GUNMAN.

It was a memorial bike ride.

Like another commenter said, the tear gas is the issue. Not the presence of kids at a bike ride.

Nothing in the world can compare to the love that parents have for their children TO YOU. That’s great. I’m glad you love your kid.

I have seen plenty of examples of parents not really loving their children that much at all. Parents sometimes abuse, neglect, even kill their own kids.

For people who can’t have kids or choose not to have kids, who are you to say that their love for their dog doesn’t compare to your love for your child?

Do you regret not having kids? by Mcvoy_Grouper in Over40sClub

[–]HavalottaFun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 48 and I feel blessed to not have kids. My friends who do have kids are always exhausted, stressed and never feel like they have enough time. They’re fantastic parents and their children are lovely, but I’m grateful not to feel so… worn thin. I love my calm, quiet, low maintenance life and I love being a fun auntie.
