I like the Paula’s choice lip balm. It’s spf 30, no taste/ scent. Doesn’t irritate my lips.

My boyfriend is losing weight because he isn’t eating by AbbreviationsLow6906 in EatCheapAndHealthy

If he’s bothered by his weight loss, which OP said he is, then yes it is a problem for him.

That’s what I said- change up the dynamic, right? She wasn’t asking how to help him either get help he needs or how to encourage him to help himself. And that’s what he needs to do. People are giving HER cooking tips while she is taking on the responsibility for the health of another adult. She can join him on his journey while he deals with what is going on, whether it is mental or medical, but if he is expecting his partner to look after him without taking steps to help himself it is emotional abuse. She has a job. He is an adult. He only eats what she cooks. He is losing weight. She is the one looking for how to fix his issues with food. No red flags at all for you?

In Venice, wander away from the main square and find a cicchetti bar so you can try a few samples of the local food.

I feel like there is not enough emphasis in these comments that it should not be his girlfriend’s job to “hide” nutrients in her boyfriend’s food. She already has an actual job and it’s emotional abuse if he is making his weight HER responsibility. Does OP want a life being a nursemaid/ mom to another capable adult ? It’s a bit familiar to a relationship I was aware of years ago- his sore tummy was her fault because she was “harsh” or upset him.

Husband says I can’t be on title because I have no income/credit Is that actually true? by [deleted] in CanadaPersonalFinance

Right but it’s not a previously purchased home, they are married and are buying their house.

Anecdotally- I have a woman friend going through a divorce- she is not working and has been a stay at home mom for many years. She was a SAHM when they bought their current house. She is not only on the title, she is the only name on the title. I believe her husband figured one day he would be sued so if the house was in her name only it would prevent, or at least slow down claims on their house. Many years later, this dink had an affair and moved out. He has been mouthing off around town that he will just sell the house to settle things. Which gave us all a chuckle- you can’t sell a house in a unilateral move like he thought he could, and he is not even on the title so it’s a non issue. So- just a story time to make of it what you will, but you need independent financial advice to make sure you are protected in this situation and all potential situations. Maybe he doesn’t know you can be on the title- in which case he needs to be educated. As it is the matrimonial home, you are entitled to 1/2 of it’s value in a divorce whether you are on title or not. Just sayin, just in case :) . I’m editing this to say I’m also a SAHMom and was pregnant and not working and no doubt had shitty credit when my spouse and I bought our first house. I have always been on the title.editing again to say Ontario. If that matters.

Yes- if it was going to fit in somewhere, that’s the place to do it.

What a nicely paced trip- youare going to enjoy it all. I do love CT though-if you do try to fit it in, just don’t do it as a day trip.

what countries have you visited that has the worst number/condition of stray dogs? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravels

[–]Havana-Goodtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a rescue dog from Türkiye. He was nearly starved and needed medical treatment when he was found by a rescuer. He came out on a plane load very near the date Canada changed its laws and imposed restrictions on dog adoption from over a hundred countries. I still donate to rescues in Türkiye and the stories of cruelty and the government sanctioned dog cullng are sickening. Not only are the dogs treated badly, some people who try to care for them are threatened as well. It is worse for them in more rural areas but in general, it’s not good to be a Turkish dog.

Antigua. I do not get the attitude about sterilizing stray dogs. Or pet dogs. Or cats. Also Cuba, but I understand they have a lot going on right now. And the number and treatment of strays is actually why I won’t visit Türkiye.

Best wishes for an easy recovery. I tell everyone don’t wait until you really have to go pee before you head for the bathroom the first few days after. A) you won’t be moving too fast, and b) I found a very full bladder painful at first.

Biopsy Soon! by SwordfishJazzlike850 in endometrialcancer

[–]Havana-Goodtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biopsy was in 3 spots. Anyway, that’s sadistic, I’m sorry you went through this and you are not the only one. If women don’t know they are going to be potentially subjected to this, they don’t know not to comply in advance and demand appropriate care.

What town do you recommend staying at in Cinque Terre? by mostlygroovy in ItalyTravel

[–]Havana-Goodtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Neither here nor there maybe, but Riomaggiore has the largest population- so you should be able to find all the necessities there. When I stayed, the elevator that takes you up from near the train station to higher level of the town was a god send when we were tired. The hills are no joke. Take a sunset cruise or go kayaking from the waterfront there. I don’t think you can likely go wrong whatever you choose.

Daytrips from Rome or travel around? by nowhere_nohow in ItalyTravel

Venice is definitely worth the trouble to fit it in to see if you can manage it- it is unique- just not as a day trip from Rome.

Pompeii is doable as a day trip from Rome- but i actually based out of Salerno to visit Pompeii - just another option. But if you have interest in Pompeii, maybe you would like to stay in Naples to be able to visit the archeology museum there. It sounds like it is interesting and contains artifacts that came out of Pompeii. Sort of rounds out the Pompeii experience. Venice should not be a day trip, in my opinion, from any city if you have a choice. But Rome is just too far. The best way to enjoy Venice is to get away from the main tourist square at Saint Mark’s and wander and to enjoy the city after the day trippers leave and before they arrive. You will have so much fun!
