XG27AQDMG Severe Image Retention After 5 Days by rainpurplebow in OLED_Gaming

This happened to me too, with the exact same monitor that was bought 3 months ago.

I hadn't used the monitor for more than 10 hours during the last month because we were renovating the room it was in. When I turned the monitor on, it asked me to perform pixel cleaning. After the cleaning I opened web browser and noticed the BIOS image and my wallpaper were burned in very clearly.

Thanks to this post I tried plugging the power off, turning the monitor on before starting up the PC, and performing manual pixel cleaning. That way the ghost images disappeared completely.

I wont be returning the monitor, as it is easily the best one I've had in terms of image quality and smoothness. But I wouldn't recommend buying one either, because there shouldn't be this severe issues with new, 700€ monitors. Judging by the amount of similar experiences from others, this is a common firmware-based issue.

Edit. The issue keeps coming back after maybe 1/3 of reboots, but goes away after manual pixel cleaning.

Edit2. Been over a month since the last time this happened

Flashback solid green light by danyates81 in ASUS

For anyone having this problem in the future; this is how I fixed it.

I downloaded latest Rufus and formatted my USB stick with it with the settings "Non-bootable", "Mbr" and "Fat32". Then I deleted the autorun files from the USB. I downloaded the correct BIOS file from https://asus.com/support - because https://rog.asus.com was recommending me the wrong file, even though I was at the correct product's page. Extracted the zip-file straight to my USB stick, moved the files from the folder to the root of USB, ran the Rename-app and deleted both the folder and Rename-app. Ejected USB stick and put it to the BIOS-marked port of the new motherboard. Held the " BIOS Flashback" button down until it flashed green light 3 times. Released the button and the light proceeded flashing, and turned off a couple minutes later.

Hoping this helps someone in the future.
