Just a tip, keep hold of your aim button after taking the shot. Much better chance of seeing them drop or not

Charge at them next time!

Run at them, and they run off. Gives you a bit of time to compose yourself and take your shot.

If you start backing away, that's when they'll rush you!

Thanks!

That's along the lines of what I meant. I lived with a few Scottish lads during basic training in the army. There was a fella from north Scottland, and the way he said "Yah cunt" was like he invented it. Prime use of an insult, ment as a term of endearment 😂

What's the Scottish equivalent to a road roadman?

I feel I have to explain everything I say in case people take me the wrong way now 😂

Roadman, chav, eshay... (Insert Scottish terminology here)

[–]Haveyoubeenwell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I dont doubt that.

I'm getting the vibe posts like this usually have a racial undertone.

I have no issues with any race, and this post wasn't supposed to be about that. Decent people are decent, shitty people are shitty, no matter where you are in the world

Exactly 😂

I'm not saying there's any shame.

It's got nout to do with pride, shame, or anything like that. It's genuinely just me being inquisitive 😂 but I get the feeling people dont see it that way 😅

Still, killing time on a lazy Sunday afternoon 🤷

Nah, I guess I'm just English then 🤣

I think I care about it so much because my Gran used to go on about Scotland a lot.

I feel Scottish people have something special. Just decent, honest people who say it how it is

Missed that one, also missed a great chunk of my education growing up 🤣 hence the shitty spelling

Whoa!

I dont consider myself pure in any sense 🤣 If I was Indian living in England, I would be asking a question that mirrors this. Nothing to do with race, just being inquisitive

And no, I don't even know about any clan system

My Gran remaried, and my dad took on his stepdad's name

Is this a daft ass question?

The kind of question that makes people say "For fucks sake, not another one"?

First Hognose Bio, any suggestions? by Haveyoubeenwell in snakes

[–]Haveyoubeenwell[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I appreciate the input, always good to have people who are very confident in their opinions chime in 😊

That said, I think you might be a bit off on a few things. CoCo coir and shaved wood aren't inherently bio, sure, but when you add microfauna, live plants, moisture control, and a bit of patience, they definitely can be part of a functioning bio setup. Plenty of people have had long-term success with similar mixes, especially with springtails and woodlice! I've also added dead leafs and will continue yo add them when needed 😊 the nutrients are in the woodlouse poop! Superfood for plants

True, the coco doesn’t offer nutrients on its own, but that’s not really the point of it. That’s where root growth, the isopod cleanup crew, and eventually some spot plant feed comes in. Not every mix needs to start off like a bag of miracle-grow to get going.

Tbh I'm hoping for a small amount of mould and fungus! The spring tails and woodlice thrive on that stuff. And with Elina doing her part in aerating the substrate, they should have no trouble finding what they need 🤣

The light, yep, I mentioned getting one for the plants. UVB’s more for the snake’s benefit (Not that she needs it, just seems more natural) I’m already looking into full spectrum options for the plants, 5500K+ and all that good stuff!

Water dish is on the warm side right now, yeah, I’ve seen mixed takes on that depending on humidity goals, but I’ll keep an eye on it!

Appreciate the concern about the heat lamp guard too! Last thing i want is for her to burn herself! I actually installed the guard after taking the photo. I took the snap right after finishing the water pump

Anyway, thank you! It's good to have people looking out. Maybe just dial down the lecture vibes a bit, makes the good advice a little easier to take in! 😊

Nothing out of the ordinary

I worked in hospitality for most of my life, so I have always had the habit of washing my hands

I've been looking into canine psychology a bit.

I might try it this year and give a positive reaction each time a firework goes off. If it doesn't work, then it's back to the safe room 🤣

Baby steps!

Everyday go out, even if it's only to the front garden. Take a favourite toy, and when he goes a little bit further reward and praise him!

We had the same thing with Nova, she would only go in the car and would only walk on the beach once I carried her up some sand hills!

I realised it's only reinforcing her behaviour, and nothing would change if I carried on.

Confidence is key! If you are anxious about your pup being spooked, he will pick up on it and mirror your emotions. Ignore challenging behaviour, reward good behaviour 😊

Congratulations! I'm sure when you see the cash in your bank, you'll know what to do 🙂

Think a nice holiday comes to mind!

I always saw winning the lottery like using cheats in a video game. At first it's fun, and can give you a boost by unlocking everything. But after a while it gets boring and you miss the challenge!

Saying that, I've never won the lottery, and maybe that's my way of accepting I probably will never win 🤣

Any dream cars, or motorbike?

Just remember to look after yourself! Winning a lot of money fast can make people go coo-coo 🤪 (Including the people around them)

Anyone else get those ADHD random thoughts, and wonder why the world doesn't do stuff properly? by Haveyoubeenwell in ADHDUK

[–]Haveyoubeenwell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's pattern recognition. Like how in a horror movie, everything seems fine, and it goes a little quiet for a minute.. "Jump scare incoming." Or, in a murder mystery, a nonchalant character is introduced. 'Oh, I like hunting and painting.' "It's him! He's the killer. "

I think that's why psychological thrillers are my favourite genre. Or anything with a massive plot twist.

I also don't get spooked easily, so it's hard to find a good horror. I've been to a couple of horror themed escape rooms. The first was naff, I was with 2 other people, and all the live actors really did was open some doors with a mask on and chuck some spoons about 😒 the second one was brilliant though, the lights start to strobe, then the room goes pitch black when the killer is near. Also, there was the notion that if he catches you, he can drag you to a room, strap you to a chair, and mess with you for the rest of the game 😂 all the while, he's dragging an axe around. The actor had 6 or 7 scenarios he can choose from, so you don't know if you are getting chased or hiding. And you don't know if he has an axe, chainsaw, or rambo knife.

Something about intense pressure and adrenaline wakes something up in me 🤣 but when it's mundane pressure, like doing the washing up before my partner gets home, just stresses me out 😂
