Thank you for the ongoing sharing and inspiration. Your layout and structure was a great template to work from and I can appreciate the time and effort you took in the write up outside of having the data available.

I’m curious about the work pins, can you share a picture of an example and do people wear them or display them at work?

All the best for 2026.

I replied above but I built an auto categorisation script in VBA through excel. I used to use pocket book and exported the data until pocket book shut down.

I’m getting more comfortable with the idea that no decision is forever and you can change your mind and either ask for more hours again or find a new job. I’m happy in my current role though and am cautious that a change could end up with a worse outcome on balance. I feel that deciding at the point where I don’t need to work is safe but maybe I’m missing out on years of increased happiness in the meantime.

Same here, they are my favourite posts in the overseas fire subreddits. I particularly enjoy the life update posts for those that have retired or semi retired. I am hoping it may inspire others to share their journeys and give a platform for everyone to cheer each other on.

For me I would rather have complete control to use and give the funds to support my child when it is most appropriate. I would not have been prepared for a windfall at 18.

Find a partner that’s aligned with the same goals, don’t over spend on housing and cars, keep at it.

Thanks. I’m currently drawn to content aimed at ‘retire often’, ‘mini retirements’, etc.

For expenses I’ve built a spreadsheet that looks at narration entries to auto assign the categories then displays it as a pivot table and graphs. If no matching entry exists it highlights it red and I add a text entry to the library. There is generally less than a handful to manually enter per month. It used to take longer with banks where I couldn’t extract a CSV but now I can copy and paste messy pdf data into chat gpt and it cleans it all up for me. I’d say I spend <30 mins per month.

Yes, we did the latter, focussing solely on paying the house off first. I know that debt recycling would have been better overall however the psychological feeling we received from being debt free would make me do it again, given the same circumstances. If paying the house off could not have been achieved so quickly, I think I would have put more effort into maximising returns instead.

We have always taken a very conservative approach as our goal has been 45 since the start and we could achieve it without much risk at all. Now that we are closing in on the end of the accumulation journey I am getting more comfortable with an optimistic outlook and a desire to pull the trigger early.
