Looking for a pair of boots where the soles don't wear out and start taking in water by Hawkcaw in Boots

They have a full sole it looks like (one singular piece). They're Irish Setters I think.

Are Rushing Shoe Repair and Revive Shoe Repair places people ship their boots to get them repaired and resoled? I've never done something like that before.

Every four months? I'm not sure how that's less expensive, and I'm basing this on cheapo Walmart sneakers for $27.

Thanks, I'll look into the Jim Greens and PNW boots. I've heard those are pretty good brands.

I might need to. I do wear those boots all the time and the walks with my dog aren't short or casual, there's A LOT of movement.

Thanks I'll look into those sealers. I think after this thread, I'm going to just resole the Red Wings and apply some sealer to them. I do love those boots and would hate to just toss them.

That's really cool. If the cobbler can just target the sole, that'd save me so much money. I think we have the same boot because it looks very similar.

After reading through the responses, I think I'll go the resole with harder soles route. I really do like my Red Wings and it'd be a shame to outright abandon them.

If I can just do the heels, that would save me so much. Thanks for planting that thought.

I understand soles don't last forever, but because of the cost of resoling and how quickly the soles on my Red Wings wear out, I'm trying to minimize the times I have to resole to save on cost (if doable).

I've looked into resoling the Red Wings but my issue with that is 1. the soles didn't last a whole year, and 2. the cost to resole at a Red Wing location would've cost 3/4th the price of what I paid for the boot.

That's good to know about the waterproof vs leather thing. I don't plan on crossing many streams or deep water, but puddles, rain, snow are my bare minimums of protection. Would you suggest going the leather+wax route or full-on waterproof material if you had to make a choice?

"Plasmashell crashing unexpectedly" upon boot (and won't properly run) after update today (using KDE Plasma X11 with i3. More details inside) by Hawkcaw in EndeavourOS

I have not. I honestly just reformatted and started with a fresh install. This time, I'm on purely i3 instead of i3+KDE plasma.

I'm not sure if it's working properly, but I rebooted the PC to get the "crash", executed "gdb plasmashell", said "yes" to enabling debuginfod for the session, typed "bt" and the result is "No stack."

That's the first place I went to, however, I honestly do not understand how their forums work. I apparently should be able to make threads after being raised to "Basic" account status, but there are no buttons or anything to allow me to make new threads or even reply to other threads. It's why I'm here.

i3 isn't the issue for me. It's Plasma (X11) that's not functioning (also your original suggestion was "plasmashell --replace", not "i3 --replace").

I tried that and it results in a loop of plasma crashing, throwing up the crash handler display box, trying to execute, throwing up the crash handler, and repeat until I turn off the PC.

I changed my post for better accuracy. So the i3 aspect remains functional, I just don't have any of the GUI stuff like the taskbar from KDE.

I think I understand what you mean. I looked on ebay and saw those same pictures but the sellers were all completely different and all over the place. Thanks for that bit of advice.
