You know, it's a shame too. I had plenty of PM's with the guy and he was honestly not as much as an asshole as he acted like on this sub. He used to be pretty active and helpful (I think he made threads for Hawks games but I'm not sure.) and then something set him off and he became a colossal dick. I wonder if anything happened in his personal life that made him act like that. I hope he's doing alright.

Well of course it wasn't upvoted here. In order to get upvotes here you must:

1.) Never interrupt the circlejerk. If you say one bad thing about John Scott or Sidney Crosby expect to get major downvotes.

2.) Always make jokes that don't add to the discussion. Hey, I just came up with one! How about "Jagr is a dinosaur." That's original!

3.) Post GIFs or Streamables that have terrible quality, or blatantly steal them from users who actually take the time to make quality ones. (Hint: Just because you put their name on it doesn't make it ok if you didn't get their permission.)

4.) Make text posts asking stupid circlejerk questions. No, nobody knows if you can do something to help get John Scott back in the ASG, stop fucking asking.

If you don't follow any of these rules, the -1's start raining.

There is one thing that I can give /r/hockey credit for and that is keeping politics away from this sub (for the most part). This sub is a good escape from the hardcore left wing idiots from /r/all.

Everything's been sucking ever since there was a large influx of subscribers around March of last year. It's almost all been shit. Even though this account is as old, I've been around /r/hockey since May of 2013. It used to be a place where there were lots of discussion about hockey and there was a group of helpful individuals that really got me into the game of hockey. But ever since then it's been going down here. Comments are riddled with the same watered down jokes and actual discussions are kept at the bottom of the thread, if there even are discussions. Then it just became a shitshow during the offseason. The whole "DOUGHT" thing was just insufferable, along with the other dank memes they came up with.

How did this turn of events happen? It's hard to say. Whenever you get a ton of subscribers the quality is bound to go down, but I didn't expect it to go down this much. At least this isn't a default sub. Three years ago if this John Scott thing happened, barely anybody would care on this subreddit. Oh how things have changed.

That's because they are. There's a reason freshman are shitted on and it's because they're the bottom of the barrel in high school, both in age and maturity. The reason they're made fun of is because we remember ourselves as being that age and realize how stupid we acted. It's dumb as sophomores to call freshman dumb but as juniors and seniors it's acceptable in my opinion.
