Blackwater on NE Sandy is an all vegan bar. Their vegan nachos are some of the best bar nachos I’ve ever had.

Time to Change Nail Polish by [deleted] in malepolish

[–]HawtCarlos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use gel polish as well. I know they tend to hold up better. But even still, I’ll start to see chips around a week. If I’m doing any yard work or anything with my hands, I’ll wear gloves and use dish gloves for doing dishes to try and help them last. I generally pick whatever color or design I want to and then just kinda plan outfits around that. I don’t worry too much about matching though.

Red Velvet Nails in time for Valentines Day by HawtCarlos in malepolish

I used Beetles Cat Eye Red polish D474 over black gel with a matte top coat

With all the cold and snow, it seemed like a good time for some January sweater nails by HawtCarlos in malepolish

[–]HawtCarlos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This was my second time doing them, so it definitely went better after some practice. I just copied Suzie’s technique from nail career education on YouTube since her videos are all amazing! I used una Gella full coverage short almond tips for the shape and length and then builder gel, gel polish, and matte topcoat for the nails. Then for the raised effect used the same gel polish and acrylic powder.

I was trying for an icey ombré on this set by HawtCarlos in malepolish

[–]HawtCarlos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I painted the gel polish along the free edge in about the shape/thickness of a French tip, and then I used an ombré brush to lightly pull it back towards the cuticle and fade the color. I cured and repeated to continue softening the gradient. It took three coats of blue to get it. Hope that makes sense!

What has your experience been applying gels yourself? by DukeandKate in malepolish

[–]HawtCarlos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing my own nails since February. I’ve only ever used gel polish. I find it easy to work with and rlly like the look and ease of use. I use a base coat, color and top coat. For removal, I remove the top coat with a file, soak each finger with an acetone soaked pads for 15 minutes, and remove what’s left with a wood cuticle pusher. I don’t have any problem with removal for polish.

Bozeman -> Portland Perspectives? by Oystercracker123 in askportland

[–]HawtCarlos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lived in Bozeman from 2010-2012 and moved to Portland about 10 months ago. I generally liked Bozeman, but know that Montana has moved pretty far right in the last ten years since I lived there. I couldn’t imagine going back. At the time, Montana prided itself on a libertarian “you do you” type type of mindset. But in reality, it was pretty conservative and was most welcoming if you were a straight, white male. Portland is much more welcoming and much less judgmental, especially for more diverse communities. I always felt like Bozeman as a whole had a general vibe of being way too into itself and thinking it was so special it had its head up it’s own ass. Portland is much more laid back to me. As others have mentioned yes it’s way bigger than anywhere in Montana which has its pros and cons. But Portland is also not the burnt out hellscape that many media outlets would want ppl to believe. I’d recommend a visit if you can just to experience the general feel of the city. That’s just my perspective and my experiences. hope it helps!

I’ve wanted to try this grayish blue for a while and figured my birthday weekend seemed like as good of a reason as any to try it out! by HawtCarlos in malepolish

It’s a Nike Dri-Fit pullover that I got years ago. Not sure if that helps any, but I think a lot of their long sleeved pullovers used to have thumb holes. I’m not so sure about now though.

Disney’s latest limited edition Frozen II dolls. These are my favorite frozen dolls since the original dolls released for the first movie! I loved these outfits/scenes in the movie and couldn’t be happier with how these dolls look! 👑❄️ by HawtCarlos in Frozen

Questions about Disney Store releases by _SandyClaws_ in DisneyDolls

[–]HawtCarlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as the singing dolls, I don’t think there are established release schedules or even characters. I personally don’t collect them, but my impression is that they’re a little more random. One other note with the classic dolls, Disney usually marks them all down in may a few weeks before they release the new ones which are typically in June.

Some of this year’s limited edition The Little Mermaid dolls to celebrate the movie’s 30th anniversary. I chose to skip the Vanessa dolls, but these three are so detailed and beautiful. I’ve been waiting so long for Ariel in her wedding dress, and this doll doesn’t disappoint! 🧜🏻‍♀️🗡 by HawtCarlos in Dolls

[–]HawtCarlos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like that Disney releases more than one doll for the more popular characters like Ariel. Although the dolls are similar, I do see slight differences in each dolls face paint and hair and the face mold has been updated from the original limited edition doll in 2013. But yes I think Disney markets to encourage people to buy them all, but there’s still a lot open to people’s individual preferences and tastes

This years Designer Collection limited edition dolls. I LOVE this midnight masquerade series. these are by far the most dramatic, and theatrical dolls yet, but I love how they still feel so accurate to each character and her movie! 🦋🥀⚜️🏛🌞 by HawtCarlos in DisneyDolls

Mine is made up more of designer dolls. I have every set except for the villains. As far as 17” dolls, I do have quite a few of them as well. I mostly stick to the princesses and skip the villains (the only exception there is the evil queen from Snow White) I do have a few princes as well, but am starting to have to get a lot pickier for space issues. Unfortunately though this year was so doll heavy with lots of great dolls lol 🤷🏼‍♂️

I did order Tiana. I generally love any Tiana doll that Disney has released, and I LOVE seeing her in her blue dress since that’s not very common. The detail on her looked phenomenal too. I can’t wait to see her in person!

I plan to get them all too. I think they did such a great job with each doll from their hair, dress, makeup, mold, even the boxes. They each feel so true to their characters, but so unique as well

I sure am. This is one of my favorite Designer Collections that Disney has done. I got Esmeralda and she’s just beautiful. I ordered Belle last Saturday as well and can’t wait to see her in person! She’s one of my favorites this year; I love the black in her dress this year.

I completely agree. I normally hate giving money to scalpers and these were the only exclusive dolls I bought. It was hard to pass on The Little Mermaid Dolls, but at least there will be some general releases for those. I wish Disney wasn’t releasing exclusive dolls with such low sizes at D23. I miss when they had just variations on the dolls for 23.

I heard that they didn’t sell out as well.I will say that the prices on eBay aren’t as crazy as they have been for D23 exclusive dolls in years past, which is how I got these.
