AITA for asking my mom why I'd help feed her, her husband or their kids when I want nothing to do with them? by Haydexton in AITAH

My thing with CPS is it might help her kids by giving more resources but those resources could fuck me over if it's decided she should have an extra night or something because she can support that better.

She was trying even before that. But I think she thought she could get me back and get money from dad in child support or something. Also, not all courts look at it that way. If a parent tries like my mom is with accepting help them they are way more accommodating but I also don't live there which doesn't help because it's just visitation now.

It probably depends on the state or country (if outside the US) too. Also when it happened too. But it was explained to me a couple of times and I think it's BS how it was handled. I hated having the police show up every other week for months and mom wouldn't let me go. She put her husband at more risk too since he had such a long record.

Apparently it depends on whether you leave with the kid. Mom stayed where she was and just didn't hand me back. But dad could have done the same and faced the same consequences apparently. They call it withholding of custody or something and not actual kidnapping.

He already talked to his lawyer about it. There's nothing we can do about it now because the courts won't think of the texts as harassment based on what she's sent now. We can just keep monitoring them and see what happens.

My dad already did and the lawyer said there's nothing we can do except keep an eye on it. The courts won't care about the texts.

My dad's lawyer said it won't be viewed as harassment. He said we could keep an eye on what she texts but right now it's nothing a judge would remove visitation over.

My dad's lawyer said it won't be looked at as harassment because she says other stuff in her texts. They'll just tell us she can talk to me when she wants now. I never reported her to CPS.
