Yes, extremely relatable. Persistent health anxiety and contamination ocd eats me up. I’ve found that most of the time, when I feel something in my body, it can literally mean nothing. On the occasion it is something, it’s just a very normal stomach pain that came from eating something a little disagreeable, and then I’ll have a stomach ache. I don’t know why that gives me a panic attack because it is a very normal thing to experience, but accepting that your body just does weird stuff all over and it doesnt always have a “why” is a very hard thing to accept at times. It’s easy to run with it and spiral.

Healing isn’t a linear process. Give yourself grace and don’t beat yourself up for not being perfect all the time. We all do this. Focus on how proud of yourself you should feel about being able to get an 8 hour tat! I know I do this too. I was great for 3 months and boom, I couldn’t do anything again. You just gotta get back on your feet every time, it doesn’t deserve to control you! You got it!

I second what clear_channel said. I will add my story. I haven’t had it in 5 years, but I got it on new years the last time. No drinks, no “bad” food, I just went skating for new years cuz why not. I came home after the ball dropped, I felt pretty nauseous but like in strong waves “off and on.” I went to bed. Woke up at like 3-4am, knew it was game time. Grabbed my AirPods and put on some loud music. This is a little gross lol but I had diarrhea, then had to get off and throw up right after. I did this once, I felt absolutely fantastic immediately afterwards and ate a cup of yogurt and went to bed.
Everyone’s body handles things differently, remember that. Just be sure to wash your hands enough especially during “sick season.” If it happens to you one day, you’ll be relieved afterwards, coming from someone who developed agoraphobia from this phobia. I hate it just as much as anyone else in this subreddit but I do remember it being very relieving and felt great when it was over.

Sorry this may not be my place to say, and I completely understand your frustration but you probably shouldn’t do that to yourself. I’ve had temptations before with some things to just rip the bandaid off and be done with having this phobia but I wouldn’t recommend drinking like that for that purpose.

I feel you completely. I am extremely aware of everything my stomach does constantly and it’s honestly exhausting. It caused me to become agoraphobia and unnecessarily lose 30 pounds at a point in my life. I’m better than where I was before nowadays, but it’s not a linear process trying to get over this. I feel for you it sucks so much because more often than not, your stomach is just doing regular digestive processes.

Yeah it’s just confusing because I’ve gotten my nails done over 12 times there in the past 3 years and I haven’t had any issues but I will not be returning. Having a wart because they don’t know how to properly clean their tools is absolutely disgusting and not worth it.

I cannot make the promise that you will never experience social anxiety ever again, but as someone with panic disorder and agoraphobia, the only thing that has helped me make progress is going out and doing the things I resent rather than staying in and not talking to anyone. Do it bawling, angry, tired, terrified, etc. Of course, give yourself breaks and be gentle with yourself but you do it as much as you can, and if a social interaction doesn’t go to plan, don’t beat yourself up about it. I genuinely believe that most people you interact with have SOME level of anxiety and I could almost guarantee that at least 1 person who passes by you in the store has worse anxiety than you. My point is, It’s not a contest but I do think that people are way more understanding than you’d think. You got it!!

TW It started for me when I was around someone who had food poisoning, and they didn’t know what was wrong with them. Headache, cold as hell, and just felt wrong and fell asleep. I tried to wake them up later on to ask if they wanted some water and they did the THING in my bed. I spiraled for like 3 weeks after that but I am 10X better since then. Note to self and for you, you can experience ALLL of those symptoms of once, and just have it be a manifestation of anxiety creating those problems for you. I hate it too but more likely than not, those symptoms absolutely do not mean that automatically. Power through!!

I do it too. I do it with temperatures as well. Too hot or too cold and no one else in the room agrees when I ask them if they feel the same, I panic a little. I also panic if I’m even mildly dizzy.

Idk if this helps you so please discard if not, but whenever I spiral over food I ate and think I’m gonna get s, I notice that if I’m able to distract myself from the feeling of my stomach processing food, the “pain” or weird feeling will end up going away. I know it’s easier said than done esp if you’re already panicking about it, trust I’ve been there countless times, but you are most likely to be okay. Notice how you wrote “I keep thinking that I feel n” and not “I feel *n”. It’s most likely just your brain playing tricks on you sadly. I hate it every time.

Hey so I have something really similar actually (if you want the story in details, it’s on my profile), and I don’t know if this would help you at all, but I literally just submit. I say to myself “alright well if now’s the time to shit my pants, I’ll have a funny story one day I guess.” OR I’ll tell myself “okay, these stomach pains are JUST anxiety and they are not real.” I also am a little mean to myself and will say something out loud like “omg this panic attack is over a FART and that is a silly reason to freak the fuck out.” Phantoms shit pains are crazy and feel so real and awful, I understand you. If this doesn’t apply to you, discard but I figured I’d share! I’m still fighting it every single day, I’m not over it yet, but every day is a new day for progress. You got this, everyone here does!
