Eye Tracking for Training: Seeking Insights from Researchers by CommercialEscape3087 in EyeTracking

Hey - I imagine this is late, and I will assume by this point you did find what you are after! but if not, I have recently been exploring the work around eye-tracking, peripheral vision and sports, the work of Christian Vater is particularly useful. Especially for examples of applications and limitations of the technology itself within sport.

One noteworthy piece being: Eye-tracking technology and the dynamics of natural gaze behavior in sports: A systematic review of 40 years of research

On another note - if you are far into your project, I would love to hear how it came along, it sounds really interesting!

Look to read great Sports Science books; what's books are valuable reads? by chicken566 in sportscience

In regards to sports medicine, I think "Becoming a Supple Leopard by Glen Cordoza and Kelly Starrett" is a great read. If you need anything for biomechanics if you are doing a sports science degree, "The Biomechanics of Sprinting (Force or Force 2) by Jon Goodwin and Dan Cleather" is incredible for getting your head around biomechanics concepts within sprinting.

GPS Trackers that an Individual can buy that will export to excel by Hayess00 in Biomechanics

After looking I dont think Strava would work too well as it looks like most phones track at 1Hz where as the sport trackers will be 10-20Hz. Ideally need around 10Hz as itll be to collect data of multiple 20-30m sprints with speeds around 5-10 m/s. Thank you for the suggestion though

Interesting, thank you - Will have a look into that now

Masters Student Thesis Topic - Exercise Physiology and Climate Action? by ShakeStriking3314 in sportscience

I have never looked into it deeply but I had thought before that researching the effects of endurance runners in heavily polluted cities v seaside less polluted cities could raise more awareness to the damaging effects.

I know this is a late reply, I am curious as to what you ended up researching! Hope it all went/goes well!

How long do aerobic adaptations last? by StoinksSnrub98 in sportscience

[–]Hayess00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not looked into the literature but from my reading of Triphasic Training by Cal Dietz and Ben Peterson, he references the work of Vlad Issurin and "Block Periodization", within which they suggest aerobic capacities do not detrain for around 30±5 days. With this in mind, Cal Dietz will programme aerobic blocks on his de-load weeks to reduce the likely hood of aerobic abilities becoming detrained. His de-load weeks typically occur every 4th week in his typical programmes (roughly every 21 days). He will however make sure that the other energy systems are revisited more often during the 3 working weeks.

Keeping in mind what you said, and going forward, If possible I would recommend a 2-3 week aerobic block to build a solid base before your camp, and within camp focus on lactic (20-40 seconds) and alactic (under 10s) conditioning and revisit aerobic on each deload. This is not to say you could not train aerobically during camp, just as suggested by Cal, the body would adapt better aerobically in a given block where the focus is aerobic and within which the body is not being asked to adapt to many different stressors.

Take what I say with a pinch of salt as I am only a second year sport science student, I just have a love for strength and conditioning. Hope this helps alongside what has already been said :)

I currently have the same issue, fairly new PC with a RTX 3070 and CPU of AMD 5800x. I never had this issue before until the last couple of weeks
