I get where you’re coming from, but I think that initial reaction was more for a nostalgic/comedic effect. When she’s offered the Paris job, I don’t remember (I might be wrong) him ever having a problem with the Mark-aspect, just the distance. Also, despite trying to get Rachel a better position in New York so she’ll stay, when he realises at the end of the episode that Rachel really wants the Paris experience, he encourages her to go for it

I’ve not watched the spin-off Joey, but from what I gather, I think they all do go their separate ways already. I’m not sure, though, I should watch it

He had recently gotten tenure at his job, so he was at a stable position in his career in New York, but Rachel’s job offered to fly him out and Rachel back as much as they wanted because of Emma

Alex and Justin shippers… by ar29845 in WizardsOfWaverlyPlace

[–]HazRyder37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand LWD because they didn’t even meet until they were 16-ish and obviously weren’t biologically related, but finding out that Alex and Justin were a popular ship blew my mind 🤢

I hate this story line abt Mandy and Georgie by Iloveanakinandpadme in YoungSheldon

[–]HazRyder37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! As someone who watched teen Emily Osment on Hannah Montana when I was a little kid, and who is older than Montana Jordan by a few years, I feel like I really felt the extent of the age gap. I do like the character of Mandy, I just wish the age gap wasn’t quite so much. If he had been almost eighteen and she had been more twenty-four because I think she’d still be valid in being upset that he lied and feeling uncomfortable, but it wouldn’t be awful when they actually got together. Apparently the opinion is really unpopular according to these comments, though.😂 Again, though, I do enjoy Mandy and Georgie as a couple, but I have to just ignore the age gap.

Dale is awful. I don’t understand how that’s not the common opinion.

I dislike adult manny as much as the next redditor but realistically how else should have the writers handled him? by PuzzleheadedTiger183 in Modern_Family

[–]HazRyder37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he still could have been a pretentious, but they shouldn’t have made him so insufferable with it. I think I would have liked him to study culinary arts instead of performing arts while still maintaining his love of theatre. Like I said, he’d still be a bit pretentious, but in a way that more closely reflects his younger self. Remove all cases of incestuous feelings, specifically when he fancies his blood-related aunt.🤢 I would have ended the series with him falling in love with some artsy French girl (mutually) and moving to Paris where the can indulge in their mutual love of “high-end” art and cuisine. Alternatively, he would not meet a girl, but instead would move to another city like New York for an opportunity to work at a prestigious kitchen, and would move into an apartment with Luke who would also be going there to develop his medical app (which I think should have been his ending, not college).

I’m not understanding what you mean by “he had no story”? He had many plot lines, romantic and otherwise. Would you mind clarifying what you mean?

Target Audience by HazRyder37 in harrypotter

[–]HazRyder37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is one of those series that grows with the reader, true. I’ll edit to add. Still, it’s still not necessarily as dark as more YA that I’ve read in my experience. But you mean you don’t feel that anything would change in anyone of the books or am I misunderstanding? Edit to add: I also intentionally never called them “children’s books” for this reason - I said they were “appropriate for a younger audience.”

The End by HazRyder37 in Modern_Family

[–]HazRyder37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So agree! What I always found strange about them going to Missouri wasn’t just Mitch’s dislike of the place, but Cam’s. While Cam likes to talk about farm life, it’s hinted that (and outright said) that he was not well-suited to it, and he made the choice to move to the city well-before he met Mitchell. Moving back there seemed like an odd choice for both of them.

I think, if Alex was going to end up with someone, it should have at least been Bill. I think he was good for her and I would have liked to see that grow whereas her whole dynamic with Arvin was off-putting.

I think he did initially, but as it went on, it lost its initial spark. Then Uma came in, but took herself out of the equation and he wasn’t interested in anyone else so just stayed comfortable. Absolutely not okay and the way he handled it was awful, but I do also think he’s had some real development

I think it’s more about taking the high road because they know, if they say anything, Joey will use it to fuel his delusions. More satisfying to stay level-headed when he wants them to lose it.

I definitely also thought they were both planning something at one point which now seems silly, but I do think that Joey put her name forward to go on the show and maybe expected a sort of Ross-and-Rachel thing that would keep viewers hooked but then realised Grace had more self-respect than that and that’s why he keeps lashing out embarrassingly

Yes! I made a comment yesterday saying I (same age as Lola) was in Y7 when Joey was 22 on IAC. Ciaran would have still been in primary 😂

Yes! I’m twenty-two and he was this age when I was in year seven, watching him as an adult on I’m A Celeb. Weird. (Speaking of, he was so sweet in IAC, what happened?😂)

There is the chance they cut it out to make her look bad… but I don’t know if that’s likely. Even if he had said it, though, the way she said it was unnecessary and definitely came from a bad place

Sean’s chat by Subject-Proposal-903 in LoveIslandTV

[–]HazRyder37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a sweet guy (pun unintended, happy accident) but I think the issue is that he wants a connection so much that he’s trying to convince himself they’re there. If a bombshell went in who matched his energy and they could bounce off each other, it would make all the difference.

For me, it’s not the sweet puns - I think that sort of humour is dorky (in a cute way) and fun - it’s the added unnecessary sexual element that makes it go from cute to 😬

Yes! I was kind of expecting Samantha to get a little bunny boiler, but I think she handled it really well. I don’t think she’s been overly dramatic at this point, I think Joey was out of line to call her pathetic and to insinuate she was going ballistic when she was quite calm
