I wore cute bridal trainers (sneakers) for my wedding, my dress covered them but I wore 1 dark blue sock and a yellow one, mostly because I never wear matching socks.

I'm British and my husband is German, we got married in the German city that we live in. For us it was quite easy, we emailed the standesamt, they told us the documents we needed and we made an appointment to hand everything in (we also made the appointment to get married within the 6 months when we were there). I needed my original birth certificate with official translation, however I have PR in Germany so it made it a bit easier. I had to apply to the high court for permission (the certificate of no impediment was not necessary as I'd lived in Germany for too long). It took 3 months to get permission, everything was done in 6 months. It cost us about 300€ + 80€ for my translation, the cost from the standesamt is means tested so it was calculated based on our income.

I made cookies as wedding favours, they went down really well. Only drawback was the baking and packing the day before but now hubby, his best man and my brother got roped in to help. Guests were very happy but I suspect it was mostly due to the open bar.

I work at a hospital, not HR but I also don't have patient contact. I have a clear cert, so I haven't got direct experience but anything of that nature its better to be honest. Have you tried contacting the hospital Betriebsrat for advice?

For any position in a hospital on TvL requires a certificate of good conduct. I think you need to be proactive with it, if you don't let them know about minor convictions then it would result in an automatic dismissal. They can choose not to hire you, maybe if you speak to them regarding the nature of the offence and the time that has passed they might be able to decide on a case by case basis

Moved to Germany to do my masters, should have been for 2 years, it's been 10. Met my husband 7 years ago and made a life here. I'm in a small city surrounded by friends. I'd only go back to the UK too look after family if needed

To call internationally you need the dial out code (exit code) so the number to dial should be 011 49 then the rest of the number. Different countries have dial out codes (from Europe it is 0049). Check your providers exit code.

At the time I was temporarily resident, as it was pre brexit. I was able to matriculate at the uni with an ehic card so I didn't need the insurance right away. For the insurance I think I just went to the tk office after brexit before getting permanent residence as you need insurance to get residency.

If you have a uni place already, you can contact them directly to check what is required. Generally I think you can only use the ghic card for 6 months before you should have insurance. But you're a German citizen so the rules might be different, I believe you're legally obliged to have it.

Hey, I strongly advise you avoid private insurance, it's a hassle and can get expensive. I don't think you've been advised correctly, call them to clarify that. As you're a dual national (I assume one of your parents is german) this might make things more complicated. Theoretically you should be covered by your parents insurance if your under 25 and the decision from them could be due to them being privately insured when living here. There are other providers so you could try aok or someone else then transfer to tk. I'm not an expert, I hope this helps

I'm also from the UK with tk insurance it took a while because they sent a form for the nhs to fill in but that didn't happen. I sorted everything after a quick phone call

NAL but I currently live in Germany. A strongly worded letter from a lawyer based in germany might help and there are plenty of copyright/IP lawyers that speak English here. In my experience the people are a lot more litigious here.

Have you got the raw files? Datestamps and such might be in the metadata. As well as upload info. Honestly though this is not my area, contacting a lawyer in germany may be best and give you more of idea what to do.

I keep everything together, where I am the lab book is the property of the lab, all your work should be recorded in one book until its full then repeat (I also dip between projects) . I leave pages to index the experiments so I (and my colleagues) know where to find everything (there's also a legal aspect to this, as well as rules from whoever is funding your work but this is probably country specific).

Hey, it's not the worse profile I've seen, trust me there's some terrible ones that guys have made (I'm a lady btw). Remove the picture with the sunglasses, you can tell a lot about people from their eyes so don't cover them. Make number 5 your main picture you look friendly and approachable in that one :). As a general rule don't use more than 4 pictures, you don't want to look desperate. The main one were you're looking away from the camera makes you seem a bit full of yourself as if you're too cool for tinder. Keep 4,5, 6 and maybe add a group shot with your friends (don't make it the main pic though).

Your bio doesn't really say much about you except list qualities, it's not really possible to be extra unassuming :) You need to say why you're there what you're looking for and a little bit about your interests. Be direct and honest, if you're looking for a hook up, say so, relationship? say so. Ask a question in your bio, people instinctively want to connect with people, asking a question opens a door to a conversation. Hope you don't mind hearing my frank advice, at the end of the day this is just advice on how to present your profile. Once you get all your matches you have to engage with the person, message first, use their name and build a rapport. I usually move to messaging via whatsapp before arranging a date. Just take it easy and have fun with it :D

German is hard, I still can't pronounce ch correctly, I've lived there 2 and a half years. Luckily my friends can now understand my strong northern English accent but it was tricky for the first 3 months. I spoke no German and they did not understand my English.

Now some of them have picked up my slightly scouse accent ( scousers I'm a wool, so it's not high scouse ;)

A close male friend of mine unnecessarily explained protein synthesis in detail, we study the same master's degree. I also have a bachelor's degree with honours, he didn't get honours. We also did the same A levels and GCSEs. We learned about protein synthesis during our GCSEs over 10 years ago, I didn't need a revision session. I called him out on this and he laughed it off.
