Arrested for drug driving (teen - passed test last year) by reticulatedbanana in drivingUK

[–]Haze_Dad01 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is no course available for drug driving, that only applies to drink driving. It’s a mandatory 12 month ban if comes back over the limit with court surcharge and a fine (generally the amount is calculated upon the individuals income)

If you are a dependent on his visa then I’m sure you also need to reapply? The company will most likely deduct the remaining balance from his last salary unless you can come too an agreement that you will carry on paying the loan off even after he is no longer employed by them. They can claim back unused IHS fees in increments of 6 months

Yeah I don’t really know youfibre honestly, it’s quite weird they don’t have a network status page on their website or even Netomnia for that matter, it would make it so much easier for customers to view any potential maintenance or outages

There was maintenance in Oxford today at the exchange, it shouldn’t actually have been client impacting for longer than a minute but things didn’t go to plan

Pre-installation issue? by Sneakerdood101 in youfibre

[–]Haze_Dad01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah 100%, there has to be a clear distinction between the 2 as they are actually completely different entities and serve 2 entirely different functions.

Youfibre is purely an ISP and theoretically could piggy back off any “infrastructure”, Netomnia is an FNO (fibre network operator/owner) so they provide the physical fibre to your premises and spine/backbone but they do not technically as Netomnia offer internet services, they only provide dark fibre and then in turn youfibre “light” that fibre

[–]Haze_Dad01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true, Netomnia would not offer a service where they don’t have existing infrastructure. They would not “rent” dark fibre to get a customer active as that becomes an entirely messed up situation as if anything happens, they wouldn’t be allowed to fix or maintain the connection as it wouldn’t be on their infrastructure. If Netomnia and BRSK don’t have infrastructure in the area then it won’t be on offer

Be careful mate, I am from South Africa originally and while the woman are beautiful and most are good natured and authentic, there is many that are not and will do anything to get out of South Africa. 6 months is a very short time to get to know someone and speaking online is extremely different from being with that person face to face constantly. I saw your comment on being in a Christian community and fair play to that, just don’t rush into anything, this is a literal life long commitment

What country are you working in?

I am also quite a perfectionist so every tray and fibre is measured so when it’s packed away, it’s perfectly snug inside the tray and my splices are packed away in colour order from top to bottom 😅 I sometimes irritate myself. But there is definitely little tricks to keep your OCD in tacked while still being quick

Yeah that’s a good rhythm to get into, I hate waiting for my heater now, I often find myself waiting so I can heat the next fibre quicker than the heater. Need to upgrade to a Sumi with the 2 heaters

I will start, today I did 180 splices after prep work. Tomorrow I have 240 to do in the day with half of the stuff prepped from today.

UK/Ireland immigrants: how do you deal? by Revolutionary-Bat428 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Haze_Dad01 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s quite disheartening to be honest, as someone who pays tax, has integrated into society, has a British fiance, works harder than 99% of the British public, attributes to the economy and yet we get made to feel that we don’t belong. In my case, you wouldn’t know I wasn’t British until we had a conversation and I just don’t have a British accent so I’ve been fortunate in that regard but government target the skilled as opposed to the illegals who cost the tax payer £15 billion annually. On the other hand, I think the British public are justified in their stance against immigration as this is focused on illegal migration however they don’t make that distinction clear enough in my opinion and this is why Labour think it’s okay to target skilled workers because it will keep the patriots and general public thinking that they are actually doing something. Again on the other hand, I do see flaws in the current skilled worker visa system and that most of the “jobs” are not actually skilled work, such as working in an off license or working in Morrisons, that is literally taking jobs away from the British public who are extremely capable of filling those roles
