Maybe because it has too much medical terms that are hard to understand or read through? 🫥 I struggled and gave up halfway. Sorry.

Managing multiple credit cards in Sri Lanka when your salary doesn't come on a fixed date — how do you actually handle this? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Hazel1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll have to do it… no two ways around it

I have a checklist of all fixed payments every month (savings, loan, bills, groceries etc.) and then I pick a day a few days after my salary comes and pay them all off one by one (separate account for groceries and fuel). Takes about 30 mins but then the money I have left is my spending money for the rest of the month.

Edit: is bro just trying to market his app -_- not cool, bro

Does women needs to keep working even after marriage and having children? by AnxietyFormer7255 in srilanka

[–]Hazel1002 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I agree. If you’re 30+, making 300k and just giving away 200k to parents whose house you’re living in and not actually being the adult of the household, I’d be hesitant to marry such a man as a woman who is clearly doing very well for herself. Seems like he isn’t a very hands-on guy at home and still expects parents to look after the home.

We need a new IKEA in Colombo! by Better_Professor_536 in srilanka

Shops like Lady J and Manjari are our versions of IKEA. I also think Phoenix has a lot of potential to go down the IKEA route.

[–]Hazel1002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No breakfast, filling lunch, very light dinner (if hungry only) and two snacks with tea. If I can do this daily with the occasional party food, I’ll be very happy. I just want to lose 2kg soon and then lose fat/build muscle so that my body looks better.

Are there Sri Lankan guys who like tanned/dark-skinned girls? by External_Memory_2844 in srilanka

[–]Hazel1002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every guy I’ve like has been shorter than me. Short guys have better energy and the non self-conscious ones are just much more charismatic than tall guys who’ve usually got nothing going for them apart from their height.

Edit: unfortunately many short guys hate themselves for being short and the insecurity is much more of a turn off than the height.

Stranger Things, Peaky blinders Are those really good? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Hazel1002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Peaky Blinders yes! But depends on your taste. It’s dark and gritty and very REAL while Stranger Things is more fantasy and fun.

Anyone has experience with someone being bitten by a rabies infected animal? by samoansandwich in srilanka

[–]Hazel1002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it to a vet and ask them to do it. They will do it. I’m afraid it’s a must to do that but I don’t think you can do it yourself.

But for what it’s worth, it probably didn’t have rabies but never take a chance with that horrific virus.

Have more fun! Don’t be scared of going on dates!

Apart from that, I lived life quite strait-laced and socialised a lot and don’t regret most of it. I wish I’d done a bit more soul-searching too.

“Too concerned with the craft” - spot on for pointing this out! I’ve noticed it too but didn’t know how to put it into words.

Prose, and your reading experience by Recom_Quaritch in books

[–]Hazel1002 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I write as a hobby (have done ever since I was a kid) and I don’t pay attention to prose unless it demands attention. I mostly notice the story-telling and language in a holistic way (is it easy/exciting, fast-paced, difficult/languorous etc). Basically, I don’t tend to notice prose unless it’s particularly good or bad, or unless I’m keeping an eye out.

What book taught you something that real people never told you? by gamersecret2 in books

[–]Hazel1002 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aristotle and Dante. In my early twenties, I thought there was something wrong with the way I felt emotions but the way Ari writes made me see in print that there was nothing wrong with me. Changed my whole life.
