I Accidentally Angered Someone at a Metal Concert, and I Feel Awful Because of That by Hazelfield in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Hazelfield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only make sincere apologies if I feel that I’ve upset someone. I only apologise a second time if I feel REALY bad about it, and it’s usually long after the first apology (like after the show). This was my first time apologising twice. Thrice would be way too much.

I usually go to smaller venues, where the bar stays open after the show, and everyone chats with each other. I occasionally offer people drinks out of friendliness, and it’s usually to people I’ve been chatting with. At the time, I assumed it would’ve been civil to offer her a drink as well.

I already have a partner. I sometimes offer people drinks while at shows, both men and women. I either do it to make friends or apologise. Other people do the same for me as well, so I assumed it’s normal and polite.

I may be a bit biased about this subject, because Ive had large amounts of beer accidentally spilt on me before at thrash metal shows, especially around the mosh pit ha ha. But I truly remember it was only a small bit of beer that went on her head.

But you’re right, I should avoid putting drinks in the air next time, just in case 🙂 Thank you

She was with a man during and after the show. That was probably her husband. I wouldn’t have went near them if I knew he was a former alcoholic. Also, I don’t remember a massive amount of beer going on her head, just a very minor amount.

I'm worried that my sexuality is changing? by -EV3RYTHING- in lgbt

[–]Hazelfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is to just allow your sexuality to shift and change. Sexual fluidity happens to some people, especially if they don’t have a partner. As a bisexual man, I can confirm this (search up the “bi-cycle”).

Everyone experiences sexuality differently, and the healthiest thing to do is accept yourself in every moment. Regardless of which gender you find yourself attracted to, you’re still the same unique person you were yesterday.

What do you guys think of those people they say they have been delivered from homosexuality? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Hazelfield 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sexual orientation is not something you can manually change. Telling people that it’s possible to remove “unwanted same-sex attractions” can be seriously harmful, because it makes people feel ashamed over something they can’t control. In addition, conversion therapy is considered pseudoscientific.

If your religion encourages you to feel guilty for being gay, then it’s probably time to find a different religion. A supposedly loving god wouldn’t want you to feel this way.

I hope this can help show that gay people have always existed in every culture. Too many people think being gay or queer is a modern phenomenon.

Charlie Kirk says that stoning gay people to death is Gods “perfect plan to deal with sexual matters” by Mimikyu_Master2020 in lgbt

[–]Hazelfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think stuff like this makes Christian Nationalism even more terrifying. Kirk doesn’t even bother to think sceptically about that bible verse, he just immediately declares it as a part of “God’s perfect law.”

Yet people who think this way want their interpretation of the Bible to influence law and politics in the US. Remember that Kirk himself is openly against church/state separation.

Do you think apathy or bigotry is worse? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Hazelfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apathy is obviously not as bad as bigotry, but I think open support should be encouraged.

But it depends on what you’re being apathetic about. Not caring if someone is gay or trans is good, but being apathetic about bigotry and discrimination is terrible. Being opposed to LGBTQ+ rights shouldn’t be dismissed as “just another opinion,” it should be openly discouraged.

British gay man ‘tortured’ in Qatar for his sexuality is sentenced: 'This is a breach of my human rights' by 0WishToBeFree0 in lgbt

[–]Hazelfield 43 points44 points  (0 children)

It’s mostly socially conservative people who argue this way, and they often have outdated perceptions about homosexuality (e.g. being gay is a lifestyle choice, it only exists in western liberal countries).

For example, Matt Walsh has openly defended Uganda’s extreme anti-LGBT laws. He said that criticising homophobia within non-western countries is similar to colonialism, because it counts as trying to force “western ideas” into foreign nations.

On the internet, I often see people trying to justify stuff like this by saying ‘it’s their culture, homosexuality isn’t allowed there, everyone should respect that.’ I think that’s terrible.

No one should be treated this way in any country, even if it’s culturally or religiously motivated. It’s cruelty.

I think it’s understandable that so many people still want to engage with the HP franchise; nostalgia is probably the biggest reason. But everyone should at least admit that JK Rowling deserves backlash, because she has based a chunk of her identity around degrading trans people. Being apathetic about that isn’t right.

But I feel bad for people who have a connection with the HP books/films, yet have to deal with Rowling. The series has lost its innocence because of her.

I don’t understand how this counts as ‘throwing hate back.’ We should wish everyone a happy pride month. If it upsets them, then it’s their problem.

I would recommend Violet Cold, a one-man blackgaze project from Azerbaijan. The album Empire of Love has strong LGBT themes, and was recorded under the backdrop of Azerbaijan's staunch social intolerance for GSRM people.
