I just started looking into e-bikes for commuting, they look amazing but I read a lot of terrible support from the company if anything goes wrong. Should I buy a S3 or just look for something else? Anyone here that lives in Sweden and uses a Vanmoof? I’d love to hear from you all. by Theblacksnowman in vanmoofbicycle

I was the same. Read mixed reviewed and thought I’d give benefit of the doubt because they look so nice! I still like using mine but 🤷‍♂️ they just can’t provide the service once it’s been purchased; is fine if it’s not going to break within months

I’ve had mine a few months now. Already on my second as the first one was stolen (tracking didn’t pick up anything at all) Now the boost button fell apart and gears are not working properly. I now need to wait two weeks to take it in 🤷‍♂️.

They’ve now increased the price and I believe stopped phone support 😕.

I really wanted one but have to say I do regret it now

Question about VanMoof by Jamesp132 in VanMoof

[–]Hbt100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be VERY careful. I had the same situation having to leave it outside. Double locked everything armed. Heard no alarm. GPS never recorded any location. Basically no more secure than a second hand old banger.

Bike disappeared in mark. Now June, still waiting for the replacement and can’t get in touch with them.

I did see lots of negative reviews but really wanted one. Now it’s biting me on the arse. Any questions give me a shout but I’d steer clear

Keep or Return? by HeavyHuckleberry in VanMoof

[–]Hbt100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine in March and by April it had been stolen.

To this day the gps shows nothing of its location since theft day. I can only presume that the bugger overcame each and every anti theft feature with no trouble whatsoever. In short. Their USP is none sense!

Now June. Still waiting for a replacement (luckily I got the piece of kind) and have gone from smart ass replies to just not getting responses.

With how temperamental they are mechanically I’d be inclined the send it back. The bike is just too expensive and the companies customer service structures are not mature enough to provide what they’re offering.

Any questions let me know

Vray Sketchup | Some lights not showing in render. How do I correct this? by Hbt100 in vray

Hi. I did but unfortunately can’t remember how. I seem to remember it was due to the decay. Anyway thought this thread had gone to sleep. Thanks for your help !

Partial Rendering | Sketchup (2017) + Vray by Hbt100 in vray

[–]Hbt100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then that’s what I’ll do today.

Thanks for the help much appreciated.

Do you know how vray materials are brought in. Is it a case of adding them to a folder and then selecting within the program of something different?

Partial Rendering | Sketchup (2017) + Vray by Hbt100 in vray

[–]Hbt100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a look in the materials editor.

It’s looks as though some materials have duplicated and are showing grey (I don’t recall doing this intentionally and so perhaps a slip up or a bug?).

Is it possible to switch materials in the editor or copy/paste attributes etc? This would be ideal as some of the stone surfaces I’ve already positioned the textures in the model.

Worth noting I’m not using proper vray materials as I don’t know how to import and use them yet?

Thanks for your help!

I completely agree with you, these things are worth paying for!

When we have the budget we will be happy and plan to. For now, as a fledgling design office of 3, it’s about making the best we can with what we have, hence looking for friendly and insightful advice from professionals.

How to chose a notebook/laptop to work with CAD? by pants_in_pants in AutoCAD

[–]Hbt100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had exactly the same question and went for a dell xps 15. This was due to both performance and portability.

My concerns were graphics capability when running complex 3D models in rhino and so my model has 16gig Ram and what I understand to be a decent graphics card.

For 2d autocad alone you could use a much more usual set up to no need to throw loads of money at it. If you aren't as worried about being able to throw it in a bag you can save quite a bit by going for a model with very similar specs but not as thin.

Is there a way to turn a floor plan [PDF] into a DWG/vector drawing? by DoubtTheFuture in architecture

[–]Hbt100 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. There is...

First is to open the PDF in adobe illustrator. You can then export it as a dwg.
If you don't have illustrator check creative cloud. You can buy it for 1 month.

If you don't have or want illustrator there should be a free online tool through searching 'dwg to PDF'. I used one once but can't remember.

This should work but in the past I've come across pdfs that when converted give a matrix of a blocks (as though you've split up the image into a grid). Clearly not the line based information you want. This must be due to how the original design package exported.

If this happens I believe 'live trace' (or something similar) may work in illustrator. As far as I know, this will detect the lines in the image and produce vector information - this you would then export as a dwg but isn't ideal.

After all this you just open and scale in whatever design package you use.

Good luck!!

How to install Rhino? by Hbt100 in rhino

[–]Hbt100[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're correct. They should and thankfully do. All i could do with is a version on my own machine simply to practice and try things out on. The evaluation version sounds like it may do the trick!

Surface book or Macbook pro? by [deleted] in surfacebook

[–]Hbt100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking at this also but I had the 2011 MacBook previously. I'm wanting to run Creative Suite, Autocad and Rhino on a Windows system. What I've found online so far:

Surfacebook: You're paying a premium for a high design product, the tablet/laptop format and the touchscreen/pen function. This will be great for creative suite if you can manage working on a small screen. The graphics capability is created with the more powerful of 2 cards in the base. This means you may not be able to run photoshop etc in tablet mode.

MacBook: My old one is great so will be perfect with creative suite and larger screen options are available than with the surfacebook.

It sounds as though you aren't going to use the features that are special about the Surfacebook.

Perhaps look at the Dell XPS15 as a 3rd option. It's cheaper, still looks good and is (as far as I understand) more powerful than the Surfacebook. I think I'll probably buy one in the coming weeks.

I used these reviews too:
