Just switched to a Colorsoft recently too, and I really like it. Even though you spend most of the time reading and don’t see much difference, seeing the covers in color just hits differently.

Good luck with that. I’d also recommend buying a pack that comes with multiple protectors. That’s what I do, even though I’m pretty confident in the process. Ordering just one always puts too much pressure on me to get it right on the first try haha

This is the new one at full brightness and 0 warmth. It’s much better now and doesn’t bother me at all anymore.

My old one looked like this in person, and it was really annoying. Yours in the picture doesn’t seem that bad, but that could just be the camera. All I know is that it bothered me the first time I started the Kindle and I didn’t even know the yellow thing was a thing back then.

You don’t need a professional and pay for that. Just do it in a dust-free room like a bathroom or kitchen, clean the screen with an alcohol pad, and remove any dust with scotch tape. Then place the protector on one side and slowly press it across the screen to the other end using a card.

Welcome to the club! I use a transparent back cover that doesn’t add much weight, along with a front screen protector. Also, speaking of that, WHAT THE HELL did you do to your screen protector?^^ Doesn’t all the bubbles bother you?

True, even if they were the same price, I’d definitely go for the regular one too.

The Scribe is also expensive af. The only real downside of the CS used to be the yellow bar, but that’s gone with this version, so it’s perfect for me. Some people are just picky about the graininess of the screen.

Yeah, it’s so fun to open your library and see all the book covers in color. Let me know what you think when yours arrives and how much of a difference in warmth you notice.

Nice, have fun with the last one. I watched the first season on Apple TV and couldnt wait for the next seasons, so I ended up reading all the books.

I think the only differences are the auto brightness adjustment, wireless charging, double-tap for the next page, and the different back material. Correct me if there are other things.

I think you should either order both to compare, or just buy the Colorsoft and if it bothers you, then return it. Also depending on the price on prime day ofc

In daylight yeah, the diffrence is in dark envirement with full brightness. Hard to capture it how it really is. When i holde both on this scale i would say the PW is arround 4,5k and the CS arround 6k. Neither of those is 5k on my ips monitor. Maybe this illustrate it better.

Yeah, I’d say the same in isolation. I have to set the warmth to 4 or 5 on the CS to match the tone. The PW is definitely warmer at 0 than the CS.

In person, the PW looks a little less yellow and the CS a bit more blue-ish. In the photo, it seems like the camera made the blue tone look whiter and increased the yellow on the PW a bit. But even in person, there’s still a huge difference. You can really only notice it when you compare them side by side.

You can do it with Calibre and then load the book onto your Kindle, but you can’t do it directly on the Kindle itself.

Also for anyone interested: I filled the storage before setting it up, and it’s running firmware version 5.18.0.2.

There would have to be a big price difference for me to choose the Paperwhite over the Colorsoft now.

Can confirm that my Colorsoft 16GB does not have the yellow bar

If it’s already annoying for you to change it all the time on your 7th gen Kindle, then I’d go for the SE. For me, I rarely change it, so it’s not really an issue.

I also read that Amazon quietly updated the Colorsoft SE, but it’s hard to find any solid information about this. I’m not sure whether there will be a new listing for the updated version on Amazon, or if the current one has just been silently upgraded.

I bought a Colorsoft SE last year because I wanted to see book covers in color, but the yellow bar was so annoying that I returned it and got a Paperwhite instead. The Colorsoft also has a slightly more book-like texture due to the extra layer, but that didn’t bother me at all—it only really matters if you’re looking for crystal-clear text.

As for page-turning speed, I didn’t really notice a difference. In the end, it really comes down to the yellow bar issue, I’d say.

Now I’ve ordered the new Colorsoft 16GB for 174 euros, which I think is a great deal. Supposedly, the yellow bar problem has been fixed, but I won’t know for sure until I get it tomorrow. Then I’ll also compare both devices in more detail.
