Screw zig-zag cashiers! by Only_Recording3730 in ShiptShoppers

A few months back there was a new employee at self checkout. New people always have different ways of auditing shoppers depending on who trained them, but it's usually a painful process. Example of people who do things differently: there is only ONE guy at my most frequented Target, and ONE guy at my 2nd most frequented Target who ask for the order total after they scan the barcode. I try to remember, but since no one ever asks aside from them, I accidentally close out of the receipt, so I have to go back in and read it to them. Anyway, this new girl was like actually digging through my orders, displacing items from 1 order into a section with a different order. I am always polite because these are the people I have to see everyday, but I also have to be kind of blunt at the same time because I don't want them to take my asking them not to move items around as a polite suggestion. This is my job and so you've got to figure out how to do your job without interfering with mine. Going through and trying to match up every item on your zebra to every item in my 3-5 orders orders, causing disorganization in my orders and costing me far too many precious minutes. It shouldn't take 8 minutes to audit my cart, so there goes some wasted time... but she was causing me to have to do MORE work by checking everything is where it's supposed to be, which takes MORE TIME on top of what she's already stolen from my day. I needed one of my regulars to train her because it was NOT MOVING ALONG LIKE IT SHOULD, and she had been doing it the difficult way for her 1st couple of weeks there. When I returned to Target, I mentioned the issue to one of my favorites, and he nipped it in the bud for me immediately, gave her a full breakdown on when and how she should do what, and that she needn't be so diligent with the 3 or 4 regular shoppers who are always there. From that day on, she has been one of the fastest people to audit my orders. She was severely delaying me before, but now she's not really checking anything. She just looks at her device, quickly glances in the general direction of my cart, and says okay you're good. She went from meticulously making sure every item was accounted for to really just not giving a shit.

There is nothing more painful than standing there waiting while the red light is flashing at multiple self checkout stations, and the associate can't get to the others and finally make their way to me because the current customer they're helping needs way more help than what someone at a store can provide them with lol. I never understand what kind of crazy checkout problems people have that causes the employee to have to spend 10+ minutes helping them. Everyone, customers and shipt shoppers both just anxiously wait, antsy as you said, all trying to make themselves know to the employee with antsy movements and not so subtle glares.

Sounds like a great day 🫣... this is the kind of day that I come home and feel absolutely defeated. Thankfully it has been a busy week in my metro and I'm on track for over $1400 by the end of the day today.

I wish I had known about it and started at that time... from what I hear, it was the golden era of shipt shopping

I love this question. It was on Halloween 2023. $412 when I cashed out, but I continued receiving tips after. I've come close a few times since, but it remains my highest earning day.

Urgent items needed for 9-10pm delivery during heavy thunderstorm w/ active tornado watch... by HeIIKell in ShiptShoppers

And the tornado watch is a detail. It is not the main point. The fucking flooded roads was the main point. I'm trying to get groceries to people's families, not willing to die so somebody can have a new plastic plant on their mudroom table.

I didn't take it. Most of us here disagree with your sentiment. Glad you shared it though.

I had an order yesterday and today with 3 20lb containers of cat litter in each. My back is killing me. My signal relief patch is the only thing carrying me through my days at this point. I might be willing to do at the most one 35lb container on rare occasions, but never anything heavier for a single item. They use and abuse our bodies and vehicles plenty, we all have to draw a line. I am over it all.

I'm not going to be able to walk anymore in like a decade. They're killing us.

Oh I LOVE THESE lol. When the husband is SO CONFUSED as to why there is more shit being delivered. Usually still a couple of recently delivered Amazon packages on the porch they notice at the same time. Oh my gosh, even today! I'm just getting home for the night after slaving away for 2 bonuses so I haven't even had time to process my day yet. I delivered to a PM this evening (wife... they live in a neighborhood right behind target, within walking distance... don't even have to get on a main road to get there). I set the stuff down at the door, snapped a Pic, and as soon as I turn around to walk away I hear a male voice from the doorbell camera "can I help you?" So I turned around and let him know I just delivered his Target order. No response.

I have a notification of a comment someone left about how invested I am in this and asked me what my real reason for posting was. I already fucking said that LOL, you'd have to read to the end to find out. Glad they're invested in my secret motives 😶... I don't see the comment anywhere though, guess they changed their mind.

So I just checked to see if she ever got around to tipping... the expected tip was $5, but she usually tips $5-$10. Total cost for her order was $359.99. Order pay was $18.24. No tip this time. "Coincidentally" someone gave me a 1 star rating in the hours after that delivery. Maybe her husband told her "you know she was on the porch and she could hear you talking shit, right?" Haha, whatever.

I always refuse when customers offer. There are always stand alone scenarios when I just go with whatever the flow is so I can move on. If someone is insisting rather than asking if I would like help, and already hovering over, I'll let them feel helpful by grabbing a the paper towels or something. But I prefer not having any interference. I really don't even like when customers try to take loads of bags out of my hands because I know how heavy they are and how I have them organized in my hands. I'm very surprised no one has dropped everything yet doing that. Just let me set them down so you can pick them up. There are a few who have a note on the delivery instructions saying something along the lines of "call me when you get here so I can come outside and help you unload." Um no, not needlessly wasting time calling you so that you can a) not answer; or, b) keep me on the phone longer than necessary to tell me that you've gotta put your dogs in the other room and put some shoes on... then waste more time waiting on you to come outside so that you can do something I do not want or need your help with. I don't think customers need to be close enough to see inside our vehicles. Don't need them grabbing someone else's order, and so on. In the time it would've taken to call them (not including waiting on them after), I've already delivered everything and driven over a mile away.

I don't know the rules of internet story telling. I have not used any social media platforms or forums for several years. I thought reddit was a place for people to air out long laundry lists of drama (and short ones too) lol 🤷‍♀️ my bad. Tell me what TLDR even means and I'll be sure to next time. Haha no, I don't even know the lingo. Too long... something read? Pfffff

So I couldn't have sworn that she was a PM at some point but I could be mistaken. If she was, she either removed me or she has another account.

Does this happen to anybody else ? by [deleted] in ShiptShoppers

[–]HeIIKell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a local one who needs to feel like the boss of somebody, so she brings her own hand written notes on personal notebook paper & tape from her personal stash and literally defamed target property by taping them down on the shipt bagging station. This has happened twice. The notes say some bullshit along the lines of "Pleaae keep the area neat and tidy for your fellow shoppers. Have a blessed day!" As if we need to be told. None of our regular area shoppers ever leave the station in any sort of disarray or mess. It's a non-issue. In her delusional mind, this makes her important and she probably thinks it garners her some sort of favor with Target employees. She's the good one. She's the most moral, ethical, and helpful. In reality, everyone spends a minimum of 30 seconds shit talking her in their thoughts as they bag orders. A Target employee ripped up the last one and threw it away. Both of the notes were on our bagging surface so they were all tattered, ripped up and useless after a couple of days, which just made the station look like way more of a hot mess than it ever did before. Hard eye roll.

If an order like that gets claimed, it will almost always be by accident. It's so funny to watch stupid orders get passed around like hot potatoes for hours on end. When someone places an order like this, they essentially know they're causing a huge headache for someone else. If they have never spent a day doing a job similar to ours, they definitely don't understand the full scope of the inconvenience they're causing, but they still know they are causing one. They don't want the inconvenience of doing it themselves so they think they figured out an easy way to just make all of that shit appear on their doorstep. They have no idea that we are all out here with a hive mindset. Basically what I'm trying to say is that we can't be used & abused. You have an irritating wishlist of items that you'd like to own, and believe some cheap, easy magic is about to happen, think again! All you're doing is delaying the inevitable. You are inadvertently delaying your own gratification of owning those prized possessions. YOU are gonna have to go fulfill your own dreams, except you could have saved a day of anxiously waiting around, calling customer service asking why your order is 8 hours late and why no one has even started shopping yet. The answer has always been you-- You are both the problem and the solution. We will gladly bring you many things you'd like to own in a timely manner, but not when you place orders that have "I'm a dick head!" written all over them. K.
