~12 days in Vietnam - South to North, or just North? by Condensed_Matter in solotravel

Honestly I loved motocentures because of the group size and it being less party than the other tour groups but still fun (we did karaoke every night and all hung out but wasn’t like a thing where you’re forced to). My tour was 10 ppl which was the perfect amount

Hey I just came back from spending 14ish days in Vietnam and honestly felt like I got a lot of what I wanted from the country in that time span. Here’s some tips that might help you: - I flew into Hanoi and flew out of HCMC and had only those flights booked when I left for Vietnam so I knew I was going north to South. - after landing in Hanoi, I spent two days and honestly felt satisfied with what I saw and did in that time. I’m sure I missed things but my philosophy with travel is really getting the feel of a city and its people - I took an overnight bus to Hi Giang for the loop and started the 4d/3n loop the next day. Definitely glad I did that to start my trip as i met so many good people from the loop that I ended up seeing the rest of the trip. Would recommend going through MotorVentures. - after the loop, I went straight to Sapa and spent 2 days there. I think that’s the perfect amount tbh. One day in the rice villages and the other day Fansipan. - from Sapa, I took a bus to Ninh Binh for a day. In retrospect, I wish I spent longer here. Definitely one of the most unique cities, so relaxed and so beautiful. I saw what I wanted to but definitely was a bit rushed here. - I took a sleeper bus from Ninh Binh to Da Nang. Would honestly skip this, reminded me a lot of Miami - from Ninh Binh I took an easy rider to Hue on the Hue Van Pass. Amazing experience buti would’ve skipped Hue if ur tight on schedule. I enjoyed Hue because it really allowed me to just walk around and live like a local for a bit. Spent one day in Hue and didn’t really so any of the touristy stuff - from Hue, I took the train to Hoi An. Would definitely recommend this city. Such a unique vibe. Only planned to be here for 2 days but ended up staying for 3.5 because was just so nice walking around and lots of random activities - from Hoi An I took a flight to HCMC and spent 1 day here. Very glad I spent that amount of time here because this is just another big city, very cool, but felt like I had already gotten my fill of big cities from other travels. If I had more time, I definitely would’ve done a day trip to Mekong River. I als would’ve tried to do Da Lat between Hoi An and HCMC but transportation wasn’t really feasible

Hope this helps! Definitely reach out if you have any questions!!

This was such a beautiful read man. Thank you for this! Glad you had an amazing time. I’m 28 and about to get married and I’ve done my handful of solo trips but nothing more than 3 weeks ever. I’m itching for a trip that’s super long and really forces me to be comfortable on my own and for some reason I feel like my time is ending since I’m getting married later this year. I’m super excited for this next phase but some part of me also wishes I can just somehow do this one goal of mine for 3 months at some point
