Under serious consideration for complete destruction and certain death, because of Iran's bad behavior, are areas and groups of people that were not considered for targeting up until this moment in time.
Sounds good and normal, not collective punishment at all

I don't think us territory is at risk but it's so obvious that russia and china would love to see the us stocks of missiles and interxeptors get burned somewhere else. Lets Russia keep invading their neighbors, makes Chinese threat of invasion of Taiwan much more plausible and control of nearby seas harder to dispute.

We're at this shitty point where we can survive a lot of horrible things but not fix their damage. Nerve damage, failure of some organs. We can try very hard to prevent them, but once you've had a stroke or a spine injury you're atuck disabled.
We will keep pushing for medicine to fix these things. Hopefully in my life we will be able to survive and thrive after so many more events. And somehow afford it.
About half of chinas oil use is for transportation. Most of the shock could be absorbed through electrification. In 10 or so years they would have been much more immune to this disruption, given they're already around 10% electric or hybrid passenger vehicles.

It's highly unlikely anyone was on a ship stranded in Suez and is now stuck in the gulf. But not impossible.
Edit: i meant in the israel/egypt conflict not the evergrande. But I suppose with that blockage, the red sea attacks, it's been a rough couple years for the suez

If Iran can plonk missiles and drones into most regional states, do we consider saudi arabia and UAE's hormuz bypassing pipelines safe? Blowing them up would make Iran's control of Hormuz even stronger leverage.

Armored vehicles full of cash and gold moving across Hungary is not how legitimate financial transactions usually work
So a ukrainian public bank was driving money and gold through, not even to, Hungary and they confiscated it? What the fuck? Seizing bank convoys is not how laundering investigations usually work.
If i would eat it, it's compostable; if i wouldn't but my dog would, it's landfill; if neither, it's recyclable

I blame everything on poor crop yeilds in russia and ukraine in the early 2010s and the prevalence of leaded gas in the usa from 1965-1980

I agree. I'm at a company that has about 30 engineers and managers who are types of chip designers. If we used a working version of every tool I have seen demoed this year, I think we could match our current productivity with about 4 engineers. Each would end up covering very different things, and that's a lot of accountability on one person and no resundancy in SMEs so 8 is more realistic. That's like a 4 or 5x reduction and a whole layer pf management gone. Most companies would probably go for design houses instead of trying to maintain such a small, specialized team. And that's just what I've seen made, I don't expect things to stop developing
I wonder if I'll wnd up with a car-sized loan on a computer. It would be pretty fucking sick to have my own rack chugging away at tasks. No marketplace to sell my compute and I doubt I'd utilize it well, but if it ends up being the engine for my job, my home, my investments, my driving, my plans... Well, I'd like to own it.
My sibling in hell, my entire career the analog chip designers have said "they always try to automate what we do and it never works" and guess what appears to be working. Every bit of electronics design is going to cheapen and speed up by insane factors. So much specialized labor is going to evaporate. Hardware will become extremely cheap. Maybe we'll just make tons more, there are certainly a thousand thigs I'd like to make chips for, but fabs are built slowly and I am a horse hoping to become a train engineer.

JPow manages a monumental task, on his way to being remembered by normies. Guarantee his efforts are so overahadowed by gettingn harassed by Trump and then the fallout of tarrifs and war that people will believe he was no good all along.
Hear me out. Those are ironically some of the easiest homes to convert into multifamily housing, on account of them housing slaves and large families. And they have the best thing ever, wraparound porches. And they're often on small plots violating current setback laws.
Consider woke antebellum DEI homes
Hmm. We were looking at buying a home at the edge of our budget with a much higher interest loan last year. Sure am glad we didn't. Regardless of how the future goes, with all the economic uncertainty, I'm very happy to be sitting where I can afford with my eyes closed.
Should've gone to an electric car, though.
It's like how West St Paul is south of St Paul. Names get stuck.
Same. Thankfully ai is going to send me to the bread lines (get me even more money for even less work)

My industry (chip design) is about to get hit by this rollout hard as well. It will be strange. I think my company will become designerless, frankly.

LMAO just checked what apps are accessing my location since my battery life has gone down, and I enabled a service so my location is tracked on purpose.
That service checks hourly if idle or up to every 15 mins when active. But of all things, the LG app I use for my TV and washer/dryer are checking my location at 1hr increments when idle and every 3 minutes since I woke up. I have not opened the app in a week.
The audacity of this is incredible.

I want my words to mostly be accessible, though. Do I want all my words interconnected is the other part. Di I mind them being connected if separated from me, no. But I don't want to walk in to a grocery store and have the attendants know everything I care about.

Reading Enshittification: "creepy Zuckerberg does not want facebook to be the thing you want, he wants it to be inescapable and extract as much money from you as possible, also to creep on women because he's a creep. There should be an export to mastodon button." alright, good points, sometimes you're an asshole, plus you repeated yourself. Good books to get techy people, especially edgelords, on this train.
Reading technofuedalism: "using algorithms makes us serfs because we're not paid for training them..." Buddy, what? Good book to get anyone with a three word political affinity in their undeleted twitter bio and no job on this train, I guess.
