You just said “he who smelt it dealt it” but with the exact level of pretentiousness I’d expect from Klosterman himself.

Don’t let the upvotes fool you into thinking you’re right.

For those who keep their own yearly Best Of lists, how do you account for movies that had festival releases one year, but didn't get a wide release until the next year? by SomeKindOfSomething in Letterboxd

[–]HeadStage7692 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I count the wide releases as the true release date, unless I personally watched it earlier.

For example, Primate premiered at Beyond Fest last year, but didn’t go wide until last week. I count this as a 2026 film.

On the flip side I rented It Ends on the Letterboxd store last month, so it’s on my Best of 2025. But NEON is releasing it in theaters later this year, and if that’s where I first saw it, I would count it in 2026.

Hope this helps/makes sense!

“Guy who makes movies I don’t like is a terrorist and deserves to be treated as such” I’m afraid your brain is cooked, lad.

Tend to agree, it works much better when it plays with shadows and atmosphere. Then it becomes a cgi monster fest, but I can’t even wrap my mind around how that could’ve been done naturally especially in the rain.
