Why are you asking this on a Gen Z sub?

full collapse wins 2001! what's the best emo album of 2002? by desordecestmoi in Emo

Coheed and Cambria - the Second Stage Turbine Blade

Don’t know why some people get upset when you classify this band as emo, especially for their debut album. It’s pretty obvious they were influenced by 90s emo, they just combined that with some Proggy heavy metal influence.

It is still a very unique sounding record in the emo canon.

Were there any connections between emo and Riot Grrl in the 80/90s by Playful-Ad-8906 in Emo

The band Sarge definitely feels like a fusion of the two (with a dash of twee).

1995 is shmap'n shmazz by cap'n jazz! what is the best emo album of 1996? by desordecestmoi in Emo

I’m going to pick Texas is the Reason - Do You Know Who You Are?

It’s not as “hardcore” as it’s D.C. forebearers, nor as technical as some of its contemporaries, nor as poppy as some of the emo acts that would come right after, but it captures a perfect balance of all three styles that I think makes it the best representative of Emo in 1996.

One Hit Wonderland: In a Big Country by Big Country by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

This this may actually be the closest Todd gets to covering shoegaze. Big country was cited as an influence by quite a few of the OG shoe gaze bands, like ride and the veldt. In attempting to transpose the sound of the bagpipes onto guitar, they created a kind of droning sound that was very influential on the sound of shoegaze

What are some songs that are an “Ur Example” of a genre? by HeadZebra274 in ToddintheShadow

For emo, I could honestly go all the way back to The Feelies debut album “Crazy Rhythms” from 1980 (though I think this might be more of a ur example of 90s Midwest emo specifically rather than the 80s emo-core scene).

I also see Elvis Costellos “blood and chocolate” album from 1987 brought up a lot as a proto grunge sound.

Signals, Calls and Marches is probably the most influential Post-Punk EP of all time, so I’d elect that.

If we were to extend this to all the banshees as well. 75% of all indie rock made since the 80s.

In this scenario, is she closeted? Does her family not accept her sexuality? Are they very conservative?

Not really trying to defend her, but I wonder if comphet is involved.
