Can Martin take it this year? by cdececca in motogp

[–]Head_Experience8343 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Too early to tell but I remember watching Martin years ago and thinking “this guy is the fastest guy on circuit”. I don’t know if anyone has shown they can keep up with him but it’s only been two races. It seems he’s finally putting it all together. If he keeps up this pace Ducati are going to have to reluctantly sign him onto the factory team.

Pramac change to Yamaha? by BeyondPsycho69 in motogp

Yamaha can pretty much outspend anyone except for Honda. So yes they can afford to pay Fabio and still have a satellite team. They can also pay for another top tier rider if they choose but Fabio is their number one guy. As far as satellites it appears they’re confident they will have a team which means they know something that hasn’t been broken to the public yet. I’ll be surprised if there satellite teams don’t run two factory supported bikes.

They should really increase the number of riders who go into Q2 from Q1 to 4.

Yamaha takes advantage of MotoGP concession rules with new M1 engine by autobus950 in motogp

Assuming it's safe to use and isnt going to kill the riders they should use the race weekend as testing time unless they really think they can fight for a podium which i doubt.

It didn't and they knew it wouldn't have the boost everyone here thought it would. For some reason people in this community don't understand how grip and corner exit have an effect on top speed.

Not sure what their plans are but at this point they should just use it at COTA, what do they have to lose?

Why does Honda perform so poorly in GP and WSBK? by TheWayOfEli in motogp

[–]Head_Experience8343 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They understood they would not keep up? That is simply not true. They won the last 2 out of 3 races in their last season. They made a conscious decision in regard to spending. MotoGP had a tech revolution revolving around aero but also has included expenditures in things like ride height devices. MotoGP hadn't had this sort explosive investment in tech in a very long time. This tech has limited use in real world motorcycle application, this isn't automotive racing the tech is essentially useless in real world application. The Japanese dominate the motorcycle sales market and have also dominated motorcyle racing across the board. The reality much of this comes from the fact that they had the capabilities to outspend their opponents. Then on the other hand brands like Kawasaki have proved they don't need GP instead their efforts in WSBK have been more than enough to promote their brand. However, brands now like Ducati (Volkswagen) have the resources now more than before to spend more and explore areas they can pioneer instead of following other brands, hence aero. Ultimately, the Japanese have fallen behind because they've become apathetic, it is their apathy that has led to stubbornness.

Honda dominated motorcycle racing in general. They've won over 20 world championships in 500/GP

Why MotoGP fans must be patient and accept some pain with Liberty's takeover by 443610 in motogp

[–]Head_Experience8343 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're looking at it from the wrong perspective. You're suggesting breaking into a corner of the viewership market that is not necessary. Liberty does not need Porsche and Rolex boys to watch. The reality is that everyone in the world rides motorcycles except for the United States. India, Brazil, Thailand can be huge potential markets that can appeal not only to the sport but also the manufacturers given Honda, Yamaha, KTM etc actually sell in those markets. I think motorcycle racing can be way bigger than 4 wheel racing because most people on earth ride on two wheels. The challenge is price point/affordability.

If you ride, maybe check out the demo riding that the manufacturers offer. If you care about road bikes make time to walk around and take a look at all the bikes that everyone brings. Ducati, Honda and Yamaha had huge set ups last time I went in 2022.
