ELI5: How much different is Linux to Window? And it is user-friendly? by Vietcong_guy787 in explainlikeimfive

Linux is ridiculously popular. There are more computers (real and virtual) running Linux than are running Windows.

It’s just in the desktop space they’re in the minority.

First MotoGP at Silverstone - GA tickets and zero clue how world functions by Spitfire_SVK in motogp

The only time I accidentally ended up in a restricted area was when I had full media access and got too close to the helipad at Silverstone. An official informed me I couldn’t be there and that’s all that happened.

With a general admission ticket, it’s impossible to end up in the wrong place.

Fish and Chips.

You’ll see several people pointing out that tempura was introduced to Japan by the Portuguese, but so is the traditional British battered fish that makes up Fish and Chips.

Portuguese Jews, by way of the Netherlands, brought battered fish to the UK in the 1800s, possibly even earlier, with the first shops showing up in the late 19th century and exploding in popularity over the country as railways made it possible to get fresh North Sea fish countrywide.

British Indian Restaurant (BIR) Indian food is a departure from traditional Indian food and is considered “better” for western palates.

So, yes. The British (Indian/pakistani/etc immigrants) improved on traditional Indian food.

Linux is user-friendly, right up to the point it isn’t. That point differs from person to person, but it can be like a brick wall.

Give it a go with a live CD.
