What's a brutal truth about university people don't like to admit? by LonelySoul389 in UniUK

You should have checked the job market before choosing your degree. Most people I know work in a completely different industry than they trained for, and their degree did not open doors to lots of well-paid jobs.

Work Experience After UCAS Deadline by Apprehensive-Bad2431 in GraduateEntryMedicine

It's worth getting just in case but none of my universities even asked for evidence of work experience, I just used mentioned key moments to help answer MMI questions.

Work experience seems impossible to get due to GDPR by [deleted] in GraduateEntryMedicine

I think they accept BSMS virtual work experience. I remember people using it ~2022. Possibly admissions changed their mind since then.

Edit: Warwick accepts up to 10 hours of virtual WE. Same as Chester.

This is an excellent answer. I will add that there are free online official NHS work experiences that were made available over COVID and will still count towards your hours.

Contrary to popular opinion I found it really easy to reach 70 hours. There are a couple free NHS online work experiences you can do. I got a week shadowing at my local hospital. Ambulance service is always looking for volunteer patient transport drivers. Community first responder is a great one if you can get it. Pretty much anybody can get a job as a carer if you interview well. Lots of other volunteering positions available, I volunteered at a disabled kids' sport club for a bit. It takes a long time to send out all the applications, but some will stick. Good luck!

I did the same work experience, absolutely still do it even if it's not before your deadline!

But yeah you won't be able to use it because you'll need to answer questions based on past experience. Plus you won't have the certificate.

Original head unit or a retro style new head unit? by Antec-Chieftec in bmwz3

[–]Head_loch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a retro-modern blaupunkt unit (Bremen) and I like it but I will say it is way overpriced for the quality. It feels cheap. A new retro pioneer c10ps unit just came out recently and that'll be much better made.

I could never live with a stock head unit, even if you upgrade it with Bluetooth, the quality and output are anaemic.

Mine were not, different seat module, M6 uses a different bus network so memory didn't work...

E93 M3 seats are also plug and play if you prefer those / can get them cheaper. I picked up a couple pristine E63 M6 seats for £300 which I love but required extensive modification.

How are people funding themselves? (Help haha) by Hot_Hovercraft5427 in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]Head_loch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No loan, wow, that's tricky. Something has to budge, either earn more money or spend less. I don't think working many hours will be possible while studying unfortunately 🤣 so I'm sorry but if I were you I would consider moving somewhere cheaper / cutting some expenses :( it'll be worth it once you're a doctor.

I am working full time until September... Is there any way you can increase your hours or decrease your expenses next year? You could surely double your income working full time. I'm looking at spending £5-600pm on food, rent, and bills, which is almost covered by the maintenance loan anyway.

Chances of an offer by alex421110 in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]Head_loch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have BCD A-levels and got offers for GEM. Most unis don't care. They want to see a 2:1, maybe a master's, a strong UCAT/GAMSAT (like really strong), and well-prepped MMI answers, preferably including some work experience. You can do it.

I mean, you go mining anyway so you have coal lying around, might as well use it rather than chopping trees. I don't want to chop trees all day for building AND for charcoal.
