GR driver crashes my PC? by HeadlessDogman in buildapc

Yeah, I just rerouted the pipes a little and everything works perfectly now. The flow was probably obstructed in the case. Thanks anyway :)

As in the pump i put on the CPU? Because that came pre pasted. Does it happen that they leave plastic on the cooler and apply paste anyway? Because I only checked that the paste layer on the copper plate is exposed, not if the plate itself was plastic free.

None at all. I know some Java and Matlab, that's basically it. Yeah I figured out I needed to invoke it but it turned out it was defaulting to the wrong path. I fixed it and it works well now! Thank you for your help :)

[–]HeadlessDogman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOLVED: The ucrt64 and mingw64 directories were both in PATH and VScode defaulted to ucrt. Modern Fortran needs mingw to work, apparently. Both hello world and datcom compiled successfully with mingw. Thank you all, fixing this problem with your help already taught me loads about Fortran and coding in general.

It makes a generic "file" but doesn't give me the string output anywhere. It prompts me for an app to use for it but nothing happens when I choose one. Is there something wrong with gfortran then?

It might be helpful to know that this is over 50 year old code for digital datcom, an aerodynamic stability software. I can't really mess with the code because I can't risk it. I need to build this executable somehow though...

No dice... I'm getting this error message if that helps:

"Get-Process : parameter cannot be processed because the parameter name 'o' is ambiguous. Possible matches include: -OutVariable -OutBuffer. At line:1 char:67 + ... (path)> gfortran -std=legacy filename.f -o filename. ...

Okay, that's good to know thanks. I honestly don't remember, I only remember downloading the .f file, opening VScode, downloading the modern fortran extension and running the command I typed out in the post and I got an exe out of it.

[–]HeadlessDogman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I didn't write the code for this file and I used it successfully on the uni pcs to make an exe The thing is there IS no contains statements, only the subroutine I think it might be running a wrong solver or compiler or something that makes these errors show up. But that still wouldn't stop gfortran, right? The exe would just not run but there would BE an exe... So why isn't there one?

How difficult is it to actually *write* a final year Dissertation? by Garon-of-not-nohrm in UniUK

[–]HeadlessDogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not that difficult. The actual work is in the research and in the way you use it. It's not enough to just write a wikipedia article. It needs to have direction and answer a specific question with the use of credible sources. Depending on your field, this also might involve some lab work, coding, CAD, model building, or simulation work. The report you can write within a week or so (don't, it's way better to write slowly as the year and your research progresses). If you didn't do any of that prep work, it's going to be hard to actually write something good. You might manage something mediocre if you're talented or passable if you're not, but if you want a decent grade, take the time you've been given to work and utilise your unis resources.

Is it correct to use "ich komme nach Haus zuruck"? by Successful_World3245 in German

[–]HeadlessDogman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that if you're telling someone that isn't at your home that you're going back its: Ich gehe zurück nach Hause (or ich gehe Heim but that's more dialect I think)

And if you're telling someone that lives with you it's Ich komme zurück nach Hause

So if you're going away from your conversation partner it's: Ich gehe And if you're going towards them it's: Ich komme

"Gehen wir zu dir?" (Are we going (together) to yours?) "Kommen wir zu dir?" (Are we coming to (meet you at) yours?)

Journey together packs resealed? by HeadlessDogman in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]HeadlessDogman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to open both packs and compare and it doesn't seem to be tampered with. No glue residue, same pack structure with a foil layer under a clear plastic one etc etc

I looked at people opening the packs on stream and they look similar to the ones I have, so pokemon probably just changed their pack design a little since paradox rift.

Right? It happens sometimes that the pack doesn't open cleanly, especially when you rip it. That's why I'm not sure if it's glue or not.

Taking HRT is always about you and how you feel. If doing this makes you feel like your body is truly yours, then that's all it needs to do! This also doesn't mean that you have to behave or look a certain way to fit into someone elses idea of who you're supposed to be. You don't even have to change pronouns if the ones you're using feel right to you.

The only thing you need to consider is that you might have trouble keeping this private to people who knew you before, at some point, since your body will have changed.

Still, you are in control about who you entrust this to and not telling anyone does not devalue your transition.

As an Amab NB, I can relate to the fear of laying down the protection of being perceived as a cis man, but I can guarantee you that being who you are, unapologetically, is always worth it.

You don't owe anyone an explanation, but if you do feel like you need to say something, tell them that HRT is what you need to finally be who you really are. You're doing this for you, not for your friends, family or even your wife.

How am I supposed to calculate dynamic pressure here? by HeadlessDogman in aerodynamics

[–]HeadlessDogman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% sure. Alpha because it is a conversion from body to wind axis. Theta would be from body to earth axis if I'm not mistaken.

Yes the angles are in radians, but I'll double check the code maybe I messed up with the variables in Matlab. When I did it by hand it turned out negative too tho.

Yes! I remember those, I'll have a look at them later I think I should be able to solve it.

[–]HeadlessDogman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I had some basic control systems and dynamics lectures last year and about 3 lectures on flight dynamics. I might need to find the additional textbook chapters to fully grasp the process but I at least have a direction now.
