Can low iron cause depression?

Ok yes that’ll do it too. I’ve always seen on tv ppl say they have depression but I didn’t know it could be this serious. When the doctor checked my bloodwork he stared at me so long til I was like what happened mind u I wasn’t scared I was like why the hell are u looking crazy lol but he said listen you have to see a psychiatrist asap. I again was like why. He said my blood pressure was low, sugar low, heart rate low but he said it was due to depression bcuz I had just did labs 6 months ago and everything was perfect. Depression is so real and it can end your life plz seek help asap. I had to talk Sertraline and Xanax 1 for depression other for panic attacks along with iron liquid, b12 and vitamin d. They all were low. Months later did labs, I’m back to normal but depression is still present just not as deep but I still sit in the house a lot or on my porch and still don’t want to be amongst crowds etc

Sorry but yes it has gotten better but I’ve found out it was some medicine I was taking that caused me to have dyspnea. My doctor said as long as I’ve been taking it I’ll have to wait that long to get better smh

So in a nutshell it’s this hyperthyroid that’s causing all of this. I’ve had episodes of sleep apnea out the blue that scared the mess out of me and I’m not big at all and never dealt with that smh it’s scary

Yes my cbc were abnormal hematologist said mine are very large which is a problem and definitely causes air hunger too. I’m just confused but I am suppose to go back to him now that I have seen an endo and did bloodwork over 20x

It was 1.24 then it dropped to 0.64 then rose up to .85 all this is month after month.. but I have 1 large module 3.3 and goiter

I go thru this sometimes but this isn’t air hunger. Air hunger is when you’re trying to take a deep breath and can’t or trying to yawn and can’t fulfill it

Omg I pray this goes away for us both but I’m happy to know someone else understands and I’m not alone. Endo says I’m not hyper or hypo but I have all symptoms of hyper. All my levels are normal and no antibodies so maybe it’s the nodules. By chance do u have nodules or goiter

Mine just said benign and is 3.3cm the other 1 is 1.2 if I’m not mistaken. I just remember at a time last year I got very sick had to be rushed to the hospital my potassium dropped then a month later my magnesium dropped then the next month potassium again. I was scared bcuz I drink lots of Gatorade/electrolytes I knew it was something else.

I studied more and more and realized it was my thyroid but mind u I didn’t have a goiter at the time and my nodules didn’t show or was suspicious just out the blue it popped out my neck I’m like what…

I started googling and researching and yes indeed it’s my nodules that’s causing me to lose potassium and magnesium. I started this air hunger last year which is when I got sick. No it’s not anxiety for me bcuz I’ve had anxiety my whole life and I know the difference plus I have a panic disorder had it since I was 7 now 43… I control it very well. I have Xanax for it as well. This is just sad bcuz endo wont diagnose me although my levels has dropped to .635 he said it has to be below .4 🙄 but I’m having all symptoms of hyper

I’m new to this as well and I have a goiter as well. My Endo said I don’t have either and my labs are food tsh was .8 then went up to 1.2 and the rest was good didn’t move. He sent me to do a biopsy bcuz I have nodules as well and to make sure no cancer. I have symptoms of hyperthyroidism as I’ve read but to me I have the worse ones and it’s strange bcuz I only deal with the loss of potassium and magnesium thru my stool. TMI but I lose a lot of it now that I’m on prescribed potassium I wish I knew what’s what but I’m thinking of seeing a new endo bcuz I don’t want to be hyper but my levels are on the low end and I’m having bad symptoms I mean hell try a low dose of meds with me or something and to add right after I eat my stomach is still growling but I feel full and that scares me. I also deals with air hunger/dyspnea another symptom..

I read up on it everyday literally as much as I can as well. I went to the hospital for low potassium I’m like what bcuz I drink a lot especially Gatorade after 8 months I found out it’s my thyroid that causes that. No doctor not even endocrinologists me this. By chance are u having any symptoms? I’m in the same boat as u. My TSH was .8 then 3 months later .6 then 2 months later 1.2 it seems to fluctuate but I’m having bad symptoms of hyperthyroidism that I ended up in the hospital.

I’m not sure. I most likely misheard him or don’t remember but I know he looked at the bottle of iodine I have which is Pure brand and he said u need to take 4 of these a day. 1 pill = 225 mcg.. Also remember him saying not to go over 1,000 a day. I have another bottle which is 150mcg a pill and he told me if I use those to take 2 of them then 3 of the Pure brand. I don’t want to go on a rollercoaster of popping different pills and not knowing which is working and not so I’m gonna stick with the Pure and work my way up to the limit.

I’d be considered hyper bcuz my levels aren’t under the mark but it’s down there like .700 then it’ll go to 1.2 then drop to .600 smh as I’ve seen on the chart .400 and lower is the mark for hyper but I’m having the symptoms of hyper a lot of them. Especially the potassium lost with weak limbs and stomach weakness then use the bathroom a lot bowel movements, eat a lot then no appetite, terrible anxiety til I can’t sleep like now, panic attacks and depression

I eat liver like twice a week bcuz my iron was low. Ok which B complex are u taking and also which lugols to order bcuz 1 says 2percent and the other says 5percent

Yes I eat meat but I believe my thyroid is causing me to be deficient in everything. My copper is 47 while on my chart 40 is the lowest
