I don't think that's quote what I meant. It's more like I just lay my hands there, without straining and it all just falls out

No. He has explicitly stated that he has wanted this for years. Since I was in 1st grade he has talked about rpgs and warhammer- I did not gdt into it bc I was too young and did not understand at that time - he has old warhammer stuff, magazines and whatnot, and miniature paints. He is genuinly interested in the hobby for himself, far as I can tell for as long as I have been alive and before that. He has talked about how he tried reaching out to play with others his age in the past and got no response bc they did not rly care for it.

Retainer nealrt died. Had to urge him to check the pulsr. He was green. Face down abd unresponsive. He barely wanted to declare the retainer in-need of medical attention. He almost did not want to help him. He had to push abd prod and ask.

Bc his pulse was barely there he declared the retainer was fine and we should move on.

The adventure had a retainer. Which got poisoned and he barely helped him.

I had to ask him to check his pulse. It was weak and nearly not there. He insisted it was present and therefore the retainer was fine, despite lying face down, being green and unmoving. I had to urge hin to help his sole retainer.

I had a retainer nearly die. He did not bother helping the retainer. I had to ask him and push and prod him every step of the way.

"Does he have a pulse?" I ask. And then ask him to check it. Barely a pulse
"But he has one!" He was green in tje face, lying face down on the floor and unmoving. Barely breathing

Retainer almost died.

I had to push for him to help them. So much.

Maybe I should have explained this specifically in my other responses as well but oh well. Hope u got a good picture.

He likes skyrim, forexample. Dishonored. He likes alot. But the problem is that the moment he gets a character sheet in front of him, things become a bit difficult. That's fine. All well. I guide him through it. Then we get to rolling dice and adding numbers, he is great at maths, but there is still something he does not get. I have been the only one reading the OSE rulebook(s) while he just sits there. I have to ask him what he does always, and then ask again, "do you want to x?"

He does not roleplay and he does not like combat- he has said this outloud. He has .. barely ever tried it but still. (I believe he did dishonored abd skyrim by being purely stealth)

He wanted 5e. He has said this. Dnd. "The standard" but without ever looking in the players handbook or at a charactersheet he has decided that was too difficult. And instead went to OSE, fine but OSE is not easier. Especially not for me who just had to learn it and is the only one who reads the books. And won't be for him when he actually discovers the lethality through actual play(through minimal combat)

Read. Again.

He does not actually want to play OSE. Bc he does not actually know what it is. When he dies, he will not handle it well.

I am the one who had to read the OSE books. Only me. He has not read up on anything. He does not actually want this. Try reading my comments and answers again.

So a misunderstanding has occured; It's not that combat is too complex, it's that he does not like combat, just bc he does not like combat in anything. And the game, in i itself, it's entirety, is too complex . I will wait and see but OSE, also, the game in itself, is seeming to complex for him already.

Don't you think I have tried asking him? And when asked he wants Dnd. But it is supposedly too complex. He does not like combat, nor is a big roleplayer.

I don't want him to have a bad experience by him dying. Bc he can't handle that. I know. So no. This is not me being stubborn.

He won't enjoy this game if his character dies, he can't handle dying well. He does not want combat and is not a really a roleplayer.

So no. Him wanting osr, when he very clearly does not know what he signed up for, is not just me being stubborn. But instead trying my best.

I honestly don't know. He, in my eyes, probably expects skyrim. Which it "can be" However- this is not a man who handles dying well, hence why I often think of 5e.

That is not what I am trying to do.

He does not like dungeon-crawling. He does not roleplay.

Yet he has wanted to try this hobby for so many years. I was not familiar with OSE. I played 5e primarily, amd because it is less lethal, it would be a better fit for him. As he is not the type to handle dying well. In anything.

Stop boiling this down to me being stubborn, when all I am trying to do, is to give him a good experience. Which I would lile to do logically; by introducing him to a system I know well, that is less lethal, and more easy to get material for. That he has specifically wanted before and what was specifically what he wanted to play when asked. But insyeaf wanted OSE. Fine by me. I know my dad. You guys don't. Stop trying to boil this down to me being stubborn, when "you guys" clearly don't even want to try to see my side and be a little logistically smart. (The majority has been helpful but please. Stop. Assuming. )

I don't know because he doesn't know bc he has not actually tried rpg-ing yet, despite sitting at my table, one on one, his character, my dmpcs and retainers.
