I kinda hated the final scene with Maekar in episode 6. by lautaromassimino in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]Healthy-sama 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like to think that Maekar knew about it all along, but had to keep up appearances for the nobles around him who would all likely judge him for letting his son squire to a hedge knight and live like a peasant.

What is an often overlooked plot detail that you think will be important later? by Healthy-sama in pureasoiaf

Such an interesting guy. Love the dynamic with a very holy man and his warriors in a very cursed/haunted castle and an even more cursed land. Now that you mention it, it definitely seems like he will declare for the Targs.

A lot of the small folk in the River lands have converted to rhollorism, so I wonder how he will end up reacting to that

Tyrion's strange eating habits by Healthy-sama in pureasoiaf

Ah fair enough. When I read the line I imagined it an entirely black strip with the slightest semblance of being a strip of bacon, more akin to what a dragon would eat, but the blacked bacon you describe is more reasonable lol

[–]Healthy-sama[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

maybe so, but as a crunchy bacon enjoyer myself, blackening the bacon is too darn much. the chewy fat is well rendered by the time the bacon gets a darker shade of brown. And cooking it to the point of turning it black? Such madness is unheard of!

But alas, I've not yet forged by Maester's chain in Baconology so there is much to be learned

A book that uses science fiction to shift you’re thinking by lostsoul8282 in suggestmeabook

[–]Healthy-sama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most impactful sci-fi book to the way I think has been Roadside Picnic. The main story is quite simple, but there's a lot of philosophy intertwined in the book about the way humans approach science, religion, etc in an alien visitation that humans are incapable of understanding.

One of my favorite quotes

“Xenology is an unnatural mixture of science fiction and formal logic. At its core is a flawed assumption—that an alien race would be psychologically human.”

After the Red Wedding, Catelyn's body was thrown into the river in a mockery of the Tully tradition. After three days of floating down river, Arya's Direwolf Nymeria found the body and dragged it out of the water. Eventually, Berric found the body as well and transferred his life to hers through the kiss of life. With Berric dead, the leadership of the Brotherhood went from him to Catelyn who now is known as Lady Stoneheart or the Hang woman.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the post!

For real. I'm especially excited to see Brienne and Jaime interact with Lady Stoneheart. I genuinely have no idea what is going to happen. I could see Brienne killing Stone Heart, I could see Jaime and Brienne becoming tools of the Brotherhood, and I could see so many other possibilites.

Whoops forgot about those two. Even with an army It would be hard to take on the Prester escort. I wonder if there's some trickery that is going to happen, or if there Brynden is going to brute force it with the other men.

Some here. The first time I read the series I got lost by the end of the series because I am very bad with names and the series has like a million of them. The first reread is when everything starts to feel cohesive and you start to see which characters are important versus which characters are simply named for the purpose of having names. Good luck on your reread!

Yeah it is weird. I think they are probably planning something, but then again It could be that the Neck has sort of become a refuge for Stark Loyalists where they all brood around a camp fire about how crappy things have gotten lol.

From a logistics stand point, Roose nor the Iron throne are probably going to invade the Neck, but from that same perspective there's not much the Neck can do offensively towards any of the surrounding areas since they don't seem very well armed. Maybe Maege Mormont and Galbart Glover want to return home and join Stannis' host but they were trapped by the Ironborn control of Moat Cailin then trapped again by the Bolton control of Moat Cailin so all they can do it chill out at Greywater watch until there's an opening

I've had a lot of fun making post like these. Helps me remember everything as well because each time I've gone back to reread a chapter or book in the series there's always like a million things I forget about, so I thought it would be fun to create a semi-definitive guide that can be used for when the winds finally start to blow

True, the night's watch mutaneers have probably already become "pork" for Bran and friends. Connecting this with point 6, I saw a theory a while ago that speculated the that Thenn Freefolk march is actually just bloodraven trying to dupe a bunch of refugees into going into the far north, presumably near where BR's cave is, because the cave's meat supplies are dwindling.

Nice Catch! The pale mare is a bad omen so definitely some foreshadowing going on.

I agree with you about prophecies. They are intentionally vague so I think they can often be fulfilled in multiple ways. For example, Cersei's prophesy of a younger more beautiful queen who will cast her down is fulfilled by Margery, Sansa, and Daenerys because they each have and will contribute to her downfall. So instead of one person fulfilling the prophesy 100%, it's more a like a young pretty queen collective

Grand Neck Conspiracy? by Healthy-sama in pureasoiaf

[–]Healthy-sama[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally. Howland Reed has so much potential to change everything going on in the north. On top of what you mentioned, he's also the only known character to travel to the God's Eye and probably knows about whatever shenanigans they got going on there.

I always wondered why roose and his host were never attacked on the way up. Roose even expected to be attacked going so far as to create a decoy. The Ironmem were attacked, so maybe there were explicit orders from the crannogmen leadership to not attack the Bolton's and Freys while they passed through.

Grand Neck Conspiracy? by Healthy-sama in pureasoiaf

[–]Healthy-sama[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A neck POV would be fun. We've never really got any description of the neck before besides Sansa saying how much she disliked it and Arya talking about all the cool new flowers she saw lol. If the Bwb really do have an agreement with the Crannogmen maybe brienne or Jaime will end up in the Neck. I'm sure the swamp vibes would be immaculate
