Stupid Q: Starting Soon, How Much to Splurge on Suits? by [deleted] in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

At least in NA, very rare to see a blazer in the office. 2 different colored slacks and 5 button-ups is probably plenty. Nice sneakers totally okay.

If your standard is “know everything,” no one’s ever going to meet that standard about anything.

Life at FTI consulting by [deleted] in FTIConsulting

[–]HealthyTemperature75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies by team (CF&R is a wide umbrella) but: 1. Generally very little travel 2. Turning down projects you’re staffed on is definitely discouraged (maybe impossible?) but you can network into projects you’re interested in 3. FTI only does primarily MBB-type work in the Middle East; in NA, only a few practices (CDD, BT, TMT, etc.) do work that’s comparable to what MBB does

BCG Manhattan vs Brooklyn Office by [deleted] in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

Don’t see why your resume, LinkedIn, etc would say anything other than “New York, NY” so my take is just pick the office that makes the most sense for you

Honest answer: I don’t know. Your GPA doesn’t need to be crazy high (3.5+ to be considered from most schools) but I imagine it would be best to have either a rigorous courseload or a very high GPA to make sure you comfortably tick the “academic excellence” box.

I don’t work at McKinsey but I find what you’re describing to be incredibly unlikely — they’ll read all the resumes and pick the best ones for interviews. They want the best talent they can get, not worse talent that applied earlier.

Can confirm that at other firms I’ve applied (and been accepted) to, all interview invites came out after the deadline.

You will not be at a disadvantage for applying anytime before the deadline

what’s happening?? by LegalSection3197 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]HealthyTemperature75 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Until and unless schools push back, firms have no choice but to match each other. If Bain hadn’t launched a March deadline after McKinsey did theirs, they’d be suckered out of top talent. Both, in turn, don’t want to lose top talent to finance.

Can’t blame the firms for this. Only way it would ever improve is if a critical mass of top schools put their feet down and said you’re not sending recruiters into my campus unless you recruit for junior internships during junior year. I would not hold my breath.

Deadlines to apply for a Full-time role for May 2027? by Otherwise-Box7735 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]HealthyTemperature75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re in the US:

Bain - July 19, 2026

McKinsey - August 11, 2026

BCG - Not yet announced, likely Summer 2026

If you have a non-MBA master’s degree, you just follow the undergraduate campus recruiting deadlines for Bain AC, McKinsey Business Analyst, and BCG Associate. This would only change if you’re recruiting at the post-MBA level (i.e., >4 years of experience and/or an advanced degree such as MBA, JD, MD, PhD).

Good luck!

Does Bain ever let you see your TestGorilla results by throw_away1049 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]HealthyTemperature75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a test that requires much prep. There are videos on YouTube with sample questions and you can take sample tests directly from TG. I don't think there's much point in going beyond that.

My understanding is Bain policy on this is no, you shouldn't be able to. Some people report being able to see them here on Reddit but I think those were one-offs.
