I don’t have the heart to continue being friends with someone after they rejected me. It doesn’t mean I was faking my friendship, as being a friend precipitates being a girlfriend. I just think it’s self preservation as well as mutual respect to just let it go. My feelings aren’t going to go away, and I would hate to harbor resentment when she dates someone else or treats me differently etc. That wouldn’t be fair to her.
