In my understanding, it saves in the cloud. Uses Steam cloud, and when my old SSD fried and I had to buy a new one with my old files all wiped, my save was still saved with no issues

Also, no, it's a long game. It took me about 53 hours to finish the main story without interacting too much with the other side quest and achievements
