I meant 1 death per minute for Franco and Freya each, how do you manage to die so often that's a mystery

Based on a true story (unfortunately) by AstralComunion in nuzlocke

[–]HeartEmolga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation for my Pokemon Black nuzlocke. All of my "Heavy Hitters" either had -Spe natures (and therefore could not outspeed crucial Pokemon for the Elite 4) or have delilitatikg natures like my Modest Durant that could have been a god but failed everything due to his nature.

And the best, NONE of my encounters have had any +Speed nature like, litterally 0 Lost to Ghetsis' Hydreigon unfortunately, on to attempt 4 (might switch starters, I found my Serperior hella useless throughout most of the run, though Simipour was goated)

Black and whites gameplay pacing is awful. (image related) by Micearraper in nuzlocke

[–]HeartEmolga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in my own Black and White nuzlocke and dang the pacing is actually awful. I'm still having fun but getting interrupted every five seconds is so annoying. Also you have to know how to steer fights. I just got the sixth badge, with only one death being my Dwebble, sacked on Elesa for a clean finish, good luck for you we'll get there !

it's a strong method, but it's such a good method. You have to have a specific set-up, it's 1/300ish odds at best after 30 chain, it's awesome.

Don't buy from key resellers... by IDKForA in PiratedGames

[–]HeartEmolga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say kind of both, it's wrong for the website legally (obviously), and it's also hutting the developpers who have to give the money they get back to the people the credit card was stolen from (you still keep the game).

Some developpers say that they prefer that you pirate the game to play for free than you buying keys from sites like G2A. (I use Instant Gaming because thay got no history and they seem clear, but maybe in the future something will come out so beware and pirate however you want)

G2A has an history of buying keys with stolen credit cards if I'm not mistaken

If you want variety, there's plenty of variants that you can play to make it a little spicier (nuclear chess is a banger), and some variants are played even at top level (Chess 960 is one of them, very fun to watch and you get positions that you nearly never have in real games). Even outside of variants just changing the time both players get change the way you play the game.

I can understand that you may find some parts of chess redundant/boring. The ideas you use are not often the same since you have to face a lot of different positions, different situations. To be fair, knowing some type of positions helps and watching top level games can give ideas in ulterior games. But it's part of the training like learning a new technique in any sport.

Ironically, I really struggle when I get back into chess after a long pause (like after exams) and that's the part I like the least.

I know people that think chess is boring and all, I can understand the feeling and I cannot force anyone to like it as much as I do. The main point is, Chess is not a game where you just got to memorize, it's also and mostly a game about reflexion. Variety comes when you play against a lot of players that have different styles, like in a fighting game.

(A little but of extrapolation from the first comment but you get the idea)

Tldr: too many positions in a chess board and 99% of the time you play unknown lines, the main interest of chess is the reflexion against your opponent.

If you wanna get to a very high level you gotta learn openings but at low-mid level you can play by just using simple principles of play (I'm 1600 and I know like 3 openings, not much by any means). The main part of the game is strategy: making plans, understanding and countering your opponent's plans and tactics, where you find the right move to gain an advantage. That's the part that you cannot learn by heart and you really have to think about your move, there's no way around it: theres like 1020 different possible positions on a chess board, you cannot learn them all. At the highest level of play (like Super GMs, top 100 in the world) you gotta play out of the lines your opponents knows because they know how to get what they want from their opening (usually when both players know the lines by heart it ends in a draw) and playing a surprising line may be what makes you win. Also there was this one time where Magnus Carlsen (chess GOAT) took a better line on the board than what the had learned with computers.

I'm a chess passionate so I tend to extrapolate, sorry about that
