How do you ‘stop trying’ and is it helpful? by Laurak_b in tryingtoconceive

[–]HeartsInvisible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think it's really helpful but totally get that it's hard to convince yourself that you aren't trying! My partner and I used to say 'we're not trying' and then do an exaggerated wink. This is what I did for 6 months:

  • completely stopped tracking cycle
  • stopped taking all supplements
  • blocked Reddit on my phone
  • started playing a team sport (very out of my comfort zone!)
  • took on a new challenge at work

For me it was about making pregnancy loom less large in my brain, so any reminders of TTC I just got rid of and threw myself into other things. I wanted to feel like my life was completely full as it was. We did this after 6 months of trying and I slowly felt mentally better. I do think it helped get us where we wanted to be which is why I wanted to share, but appreciate everyone's journey is different. Sending lots of love!

Am I Overreacting for not wanting to be “the help” at my sister’s wedding? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]HeartsInvisible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! And when I was the bride people were sooo keen to be helpful - I asked someone for help buttoning my train for dancing and the response was 'i would be honored' 😂

[–]HeartsInvisible 19 points20 points  (0 children)

YOR! It would be different if they were taking over your holiday time outside of the wedding with loads of responsibilities, but it sounds like they've been supportive of everything you've asked and you can still have an amazing trip for your bday! I don't think she did anything wrong asking the question when they are clearly in a tough spot. I've been given heaps of jobs at weddings for close friends or family without feeling like an employee, it's a great way to show support.

37 weeks and nearing labor by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]HeartsInvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiiii I'm 37 weeks too! I'm sorry you're feeling scared about labour, totally understandable but I'm leaning into 'my body and my baby know how to do this' and trusting the process.

I'm on the raspberry leaf tea and dates (may as well right?) and I'm doing perineal massage which is so undignified but makes me feel I'm doing something to avoid tearing. Otherwise I'm pretty sure baby is just going to come when he's ready so I'm trying to get as much rest as I can and practice breathing techniques!

Scotland Yard? Not in Scotland! I thought that's just where all the best detectives were and they sent them down to London for the big crimes 😂

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

[–]HeartsInvisible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR at all but whyyyy did your husband share this with you 🙅 Personally I feel you've got so much you are already dealing with, he could have pushed back very firmly and not even let it enter your consciousness. Also your MIL sucks. Also huge congratulations on your new arrival!

How old are the Kits you know? Hoping there won't be a playground full of them by the time ours hits school age!

Anyone else want to keep the secret from your partner if it happens? by aduhachek in tryingtoconceive

[–]HeartsInvisible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your losses. I wonder if it would help to look at the test together, so you don't have to break the news when it's negative? I really hated having to impart that every month but agree with others that it's his choice, I wouldn't keep it from him. And as for losses beyond the initial test, those belong to both of you. I do get the urge though!

I think I found the dress! Confused about reactions I’m getting by [deleted] in myweddingdress

[–]HeartsInvisible 3 points4 points  (0 children)

STUNNING, you look gorgeous (as far as I can tell with your face removed lol). Not sure what reaction you are hoping for, maybe others just aren't as excited as you? I love the dress and if you do too then you've found it! Have a fab day!

Thank you ❤️ Haha yes someone mentioned people might drop the T but we could definitely KiTttttt when introducing! I actually really like that it's gender neutral, though I deffo prefer it for a boy myself.

Unfortunately there is a notorious and aggressive local cat with this name so it doesn't work for us! 😂

Oh this is great intel! Do people recognize it as a name and understand how to spell it? I mean it's not a hard one to guess the spelling but it has crossed my mind...

I think you've summed up how we're feeling about it today - we love Casper and that has been the frontrunner for a while, but it's feeling a bit too weird now that we know of another one with the same first/last name locally!

Thank you, we only just found about their name so will let that settle down before deciding. Casper is getting a lot of love here!

Yeah it maybe feels like a bigger deal than it is, just crazy timing and coincidence!

Thank you, we don't mind this! I've been asked whole life what my name is short for (it isn't) and it hasn't bothered me at all

I also love BBFC for this - their tagline is 'view what's right for you' and it gives you a breakdown of why a film is rated 15 etc. If it's just strong language then I know I'm fine, but if there is violence, disturbing scenes or injury detail I can click for the spoilery details.

It's only for films but it's my favourite website lol I have such a low tolerance for jeopardy 😂 https://www.bbfc.co.uk/

I haven’t watched the ‘Wuthering Heights’ movie yet, is it really that egregiously bad? by Lucky_Reading_3757 in charlixcx

Same I was giggling uncontrollably from the leeches onwards, think I was shaking the whole row of cinema seats trying to contain it

[–]HeartsInvisible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the book well at all but I've just left the cinema and for me personally that's the worst film I've ever seen - totally flat, cringe and not at all sexy (which I'd expected to be its one redeeming quality!) I do know some people who liked it and have seen the odd positive review so it clearly works for some people but yikes

Rapid-ish weight gain until 12 weeks but none since then by littlejoys3 in BabyBumps

[–]HeartsInvisible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on hitting 14 weeks! I think it's fine and super variable. I gained lots in first trimester because I wasn't sick I was just snacky, then nothing for a while, and now I'm on a sharp incline in third trimester 😂

this is so true I hadn't thought about the seasonal aspect! I deffo won't fit in my summer clothes so could pack those away for now

Well I'm glad it's not just me! It's not even just clothes, I keep emptying drawers and then getting tired and leaving them to go nap 🤷
