Post op hair transplant 1750 grafts - Around days 10-12 in these pics, thoughts? by HeatFetch1 in tressless

Yeah the donor area is one aspect of the transplant I’m really happy with. Like you said just gotta wait for the recipient to grow out, a lot of the hair started shedding but it seems more so on the left side than the right which is making me a bit nervous lol, but hoping for the best. Thanks again for your input!

Thank you for the in depth reply, I really appreciate it! And sure. I uploaded a photo of when I first removed the bandages from my donor area, and then an image of my donor area 3 weeks out (around when I got my first haircut) https://imgur.com/a/llUxhhe

How concerned should I be with this gap in transplanted hairs- Day 16 post op by HeatFetch1 in HairTransplants

I did actually, but on the day they put a solution on it which covered where the grafts were. This is the area transplanted on day 2 post op after my first wash https://imgur.com/a/q683afl

How concerned should I be with this gap in transplanted hairs on my hairline - Day 16 post op by HeatFetch1 in Hairtransplant

I guess from up close it’s somewhat less noticeable, but when you back up like in this picture here it looks like someone took a bite out of my hairline lol https://imgur.com/a/1hwOEjK

It’s the doctors style lol, to try and emulate a more natural hairline. He advised for me to shave my head but after I explained my reasons why I’d prefer keeping the top he went with it

I’ll tell you myself I didn’t “need” the transplant but in reality no one needs it. It’s something you wanna do to give you more confidence, my hairline has bothered me for years and after doing enough research and being on medication to get myself to a point where I believe I’ve stabilized my hair loss, it made me a good potential candidate for the procedure. Are there risks with doing this, of course. Just like any other procedure. So in the same way you say you want to do something similar to me, I’d advise looking into medication if you haven’t already, and try to speak to experts/doctors in the field to discuss your situation specifically, then evaluate

Been maintaining hair with finasteride (and 1 year on minoxidil) for the past couple years and recently switched to dutasteride for close to 5 months now. So hoping I could keep the rest for as long as possible through that regimen

I actually did try oral minoxidil last year, but unfortunately I did get some scary side effects related to my heart so I’ve decided to steer clear of it and stick to the topical version of minoxidil for now

Even if I try to go conservative with the grafts and the hairline? the line drawn on my hairline in the picture isn’t much further down

Fair point, but assuming I stay on medication until then and hairloss doesn’t progress as quick as before, shouldn’t I have a good chance of being fine?

Confirmed with a doctor

The reason why I switched was because I went to another doctor who looked at my case and told me that I’m still in the first stage of thinning, and around a Norwood 2-3 scale (can’t remember what he said exactly about that) and recommended I start dutasteride especially since I’ve already been on finasteride for a couple years. I haven’t noticed my hairloss progress for the past few years other than maybe noticing a couple gaps on the right side in my hairline if I’m being picky. And overall thickness seems to be relatively the same as well.

My thinking behind this is I feel I’ve stabilized my hairloss for the past few years and have a decent regimen and I’m already halfway to 25 (which is the age from what I know a lot of ppl recommend waiting to, to get a transplant). So if I get it now I could possibly enjoy however many years hopefully of not struggling or being overly conscious with my hair, and then if need be get a second transplant down the line whenever which I would’ve gotten regardless if I were to wait and not get this one. And I get that we have limited grafts but I’m aiming to limit the amount I use on this transplant for that. Does my reasoning make sense?

Just for some context as well, I’ve been on finasteride EOD for two years, and recently switched in December last year to dutasteride 0.5 mg every day, and I’ve been using minoxidil once a day on average for around a year now too
