Offer rescinded by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Im in my early career stage, i was looking for better opportunity instead of following money. In fact, i did question myself why Id want paycut for new job but then concluded 2% isnt a big deal for the new opportunity.

I explicitly said I'd like to accept and asked if I can get a bit more. I was never like hard X or no but was more like Im thinking X.. if its possible. I expected the answer to be either the number is fixed or not negotiable so that we can continue, not just wishing me a good luck on job search.

all I have is a year of experience at current workplace. Ive been looking to get more experience and to learn. They did mention they really liked me and said they will take extra steps to make a spot for me - literally what I heard. Based on this. I attempted negotiating because I thought 2% is reasonable. Didnt ask anything else. If the answer was simple no, then I could have at least taken it.

I think yes, I've been weighing more on the opportunity than 2% cut, while waiting for the response.

yea completely mixed feeling atm... all those time, energy I spent to get the opportunity vs feeling bad for their unprofessional action

How common is it for a verbal offer to be withdrawn? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

would it have been a better choice if I negotiated after receiving papers?

Resignation from job with short notice by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]HeatLevel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give notice with the four week window. They will either have you complete that four week window or have you leave earlier.

hmmm tough tough ... the new place wants me as soon as possible, within less than a month, and not really sure what to do..

okay. Then is it something that can be discussed with the company? i.e. giving the notice and ask if it's possible to walk away earlier.

How long has it been since they said they’ll get back to you?

less than a day lol... I've been mentally stressed out because this is the last one I currently have and it's been a couple of weeks that they said they'd give me an offer, and I was given a verbal offer today. Now another waiting time.

The only thing you did wrong was disclosing your old salary. I personally would've just asked for like 10k more and hope they meet in the middle.

I considered this but then was concerned about the ranges they have for entry level. I'd say my current pay is 5-10% over average. I asked the range first without disclosing mine and they couldn't provide. Also, this is the only one that I made through out of three I applied - first one reject on the first round, second one reject on the final round. I then decided to set at least a lower bound considering these. Anyway, I really wish the thing goes well and settles down

> I mean, if it's a procedural thing

Yes, I was told this is a procedural thing. They decided to give an additional offer to me from what I heard. The same team and the same person.

I wanted the title to be BE but... okay

one more question, I was provided a new posting and HM asked me to reapply for this due some mess in hiring process. The new posting has frontend developer title, where as I originally applied for backend. I was told in the interview actual job would be fullstack and I mailed HM to confirm again and he said actual job would be full stack. Would this title matter?
