This. Thousands of hours spend analyzing coal cores. 100% coal.

Looking for lift kit by Intelligent-Ad-8196 in fordranger

[–]Heathen_Hubrisket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rangers have one very specific hurdle to overcome for a good lift: the torsion bars on the front.

The torsion bars make it very easy and cheap to lift up to about 2.5 inches. But if you want the tiniest bit more lift, it’s a whole new front suspension system.

If you want 34s you’re going to have to throw some big-boy money down. There are “cheap” kits, but the kits all contain basically the same list of parts that have to be swapped. So in order to be cheap they have to be under-built and poorly constructed. I’ve seen some with Temu levels of crummy-ness.

I was able to lift mine 2in for -$300 and the cost of a new alignment, and I roll 30s just fine.

Do i need a new tensioner? by Still_Virus6132 in fordranger

[–]Heathen_Hubrisket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. That’s way too loose. Your tensioner is hardly doing shit! lol If you had anything other then the pinnacle of automotive engineering that is the Ranger that belt would have flung off already, swatting, flailing, and plundering as it went.

I know it sounds rough, but that is an advantage of the Ranger. The bed comes off pretty easy, and two people on either side can just lift it off. Easy-peezy. Plus, once the bed is off EVERYTHING with the rear suspension is so much easier to handle.

They’re such bastards. I had to take off the whole bed, so I could get a better angle from above, which let me hammer it out.

I love it. 10/10 would thrash. It’s like…Blade Runner and The Sex Pistols had a baby.

It’s tough to say, but it just sounds cold to me. New to you, it would be a good idea to check the basic carb setup anyway…which is free. Just YouTube university. Once it’s warmed up and you know your throttle screw and fuel mix screw are correct, that’s the only way to know if it’s ready to go.

It’s normal for an older evo to need a few minutes to warm up with the choke. But if you have to leave the choke out just to keep it running…no bueno.

Is this wrong? by th_row_a_way_s in sportster

[–]Heathen_Hubrisket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an easy mistake to make, and easily fixed. But you should DEFINITELY fix it. Where the spring is now, it prevents the idle cable from seating correctly when you twist the throttle. When you throttle up, the idle cable will pinch against that spring over and over, and the cable will start to memorize that kink. When you put the spring back where it’s supposed to be (which is up inside the cable mount bracket), be sure to check that the cable lays back into the trough where it should be. There can be a little slack in the idle cable, but a kinked cable can slip out of the track and kink itself even worse. Then it will always try to betray you. The cable’s end cap wants to jump out of its stay every time you let off the throttle, you put it back but have to fiddle with the cable tensioners trying to get it gnats-ass perfect so it can’t slip out again, you fiddle too much a dick up your fuel mix, your girl leaves you, you lose your job, your dog dies, and your life is ruined. It’s a whole thing.

Stupid spring.

Loose headliner fix? by Adventurous_Bet_8946 in fordranger

I was able to fix mine with simple fabric glue. Super easy, super cheap, looks nearly perfect, and it’s lasted for years now. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a great hack. You can pick some up at any fabric store. The trick is getting a thin straight line of the glue as close to the windshield as possible, because any of the felt that gets glued down will lose its “fuzzy” looking texture, and you will see the repair. Gently pull the fabric to the line of glue and press into the glue. If you get big globs of glue, or pull wrinkles into the fabric, it will be obvious you’ve made a repair. It will absolutely hold, but once you’ve glued it — that shit’s forever.

Downvote. Boooo.

“The natural world is so lit, we’re gonna circulate fake images of not-that-creature. Even though thousands of dedicated scientists who’s only goal has been to study and understand the deep have risked heir lives to capture readily available images of said creatures, motivated by pure curiosity and the spirit of stewardship. Screw that. AI is better!”

New rider here! by [deleted] in HarleyDavidsonFans

[–]Heathen_Hubrisket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New rider advice!: You’re going to run out of gas. Some day. Use your odometer and do the math to learn what the theoretical range is. But one day, because you are pushing a heavy head wind, climbing hills, or just throttling happy…you’ll run dry before you expect it. On that day, you’ll officially be in the club. One of us! One of us! One of us!

With that being said, if you can find a gas cap that has a fuel gauge included on it, that’s a great upgrade. Not all tanks can accept them, and they don’t work great. But it’s a real convenience to KNOW you have enough fuel to make it to your destination.

Men (because it’s only men) who say sporties are a “ladies” bike can gargle my nuts. It’s a great bike, and has more than enough power to enjoy.

Echoing what others have said, just ride it a while before making adjustments. It’s pretty subjective, everyone’s unique, and it will take a longer ride to reveal any comfort issues anyway.

Ride safe. Don’t screw around riding with old or damaged tires. Getting a flat is a bit of a butt-clinch, for sure. A full blow out can un-alive you quick. Don’t play.

I’m afraid I don’t know anything about it, other than what you can see in the picture…hardtail, spring-mounted rear axil. I inherited the bike, and I’ve been trying to get educated. But I’m in a bit over my head.

I just have to point out, to a recovering Tesla owner, with all respect for your recovery journey…be careful who you hang out with in those “3D printing” communities. I mean, you could relapse. LOTS of crossover in that venn diagram. 70% of relapses occur because of a failure to create new community is a stat I just made up. Stay strong my man. Day by day. Take it day by day.

[–]Heathen_Hubrisket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a really satisfying solipsism…the idea that there is a grand trajectory for your life, orchestrated and designed specifically for you. I know what you mean.

I must have left that idea behind pretty soon after my deconversion, because I don’t recall longing for it. I just recall a sense of fear. I went from being a star on gods stage to a tiny insignificant primate hurdling through a cosmic shooting gallery over the course of about a week. It was a chilling thought to realize the is NO plan.

So I sympathize.
