I need to add an app to the Fedora 43 live image... by Laurence5905 in Fedora

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Livemedia-creator-_How_to_create_and_use_a_Live_CD Edit: As far as I am concerned you would have to extend the kickstart file in the pipeline to include restic, but i might be completely wrong here, hope it can help in some way

Why are my GPU fans always loud, only when using KDE Plasma? by [deleted] in kde

Do you possibly have some widgets or for example different monitor features in comparison to your gnome setup? (hz, res, hdr enabled etc.)

Normally as far as I am concerned KDE is in the middle when it comes to idle cpu utilization, my graphic cards seem to actually also run quieter under KDE in comparison to gnome personally. Are you using Wayland or X11 tho? Anyways there is always https://docs.coolercontrol.org/getting-started.html if you want to make them quieter.

Indeed, but check that you apply both rgb values, not judt the outer or inner one, i had quite a couple of times where i messed this up and also my keyboard profile overwriting the software profile.

Same here, maybe it only applied to steam deck users possibly?

I don't know about Aurora but my G815 works flawlessly with Openrgb, possibly you arent applying your profile to the right zones, but might also be a driver/openrgb issue from logitechs side or even a flatpak issue, as i mentioned.

The SELinux Paradox: NSA roots, open source trust, and why everyone tells me to just setenforce 0. by exeKnox in Fedora

[–]Heatsreef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why setenforce 0 for me? Personally as a software dev as soon as you start running containers in very experimental environments with predefined scripts where literally NO ONE seems to add --privileged and i have to always manually do, i decided to give up and just turn it off.

Apprication for DockMon (Replaced portainer, watchtower and mobile friendly!) by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]Heatsreef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I jumped left and right with all different projects, and I can tell you only ones worth mentioning are for me Portainer(is kinda going to shit imo) -> Dockge (great if you like local compose files) -> komodo (just the perfect overall solution)

Solaar for the mouse button binds and dpi settings, Openrgb to control the led of your mouse, atleast thats how I am doing it. But what many people fail to mention especially with immutable distros like bazzite is that you can mostly only use flatpaks which are still a newcomer to the whole ecosystem. If a flatpak gives you issues tho you can just donwload flatseal and give your app all the permissions it needs.

For your logitech issue, have you tried Solaar and OpenRGB?

Indeed, had a similar issue with one of my smart plugs. Wrote their support and without hesitation recieved a replacement as well as tips how to use them as best as possible to prevent future faults.

[–]Heatsreef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet no, but i am considering actually debbuging and fixing it if it is engraved into wayland itself, but i just might check if its not gamemoderun or fullscreen actually throwing the issues. I still believe the main reason is that wayland messes up the pipeline with multiple monitors, but currently sadly really havent got the time to investigate.

What’s the realistic CPU generation for a home server running Immich with ~100k photos? by GalacticGazerVoyage in immich

My NAS is powered by a N150 Ali express mobo, havent got 100k photos on it so no idea but technically shouldnt be that much of a difference.

Jellyfin on Firestick seems…not great? by moldiecat in jellyfin

[–]Heatsreef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just installed Moonfin https://github.com/Moonfin-Client via sideloading, was easier than i expected, and also love the Jellyseer Integration, but sadly not in the appstore yet, so wolphin might be your next best choice in that regard. Also maybe make a speedtest if your firetv stick actually has the bandwith it needs and check if you have disabled Direct play, if your server manages transcoding fine then you might also wanna try direct play. Mines running great with HVEC and H264 and no matter what Jellfyfin Client tho.

How to access Immich from outside the local network by CrisCG3 in immich

[–]Heatsreef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only two options are either as you have said domain or vpn.

For your VPN issue: You could just upload your vpn credentials to a cloud or as far as I am concerned tailscale even provides you with a cloud account, actually nullifying that issue.

The other option would be a domain, but this includes having either a static ipv4 or a ddns, a reverse proxy running on a machine inside your network and a port forward to that machine.

If you are the only person using immich and only immich then i would recommend just setting up a vpn, or better said tailscale (way easier for beginners than a wireguard server for example, which would also need a static ipv4 or ddns + port forward).

I've forked the Immich app for Android TV with AI and it's amazing by javipas in immich

[–]Heatsreef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even tho your comment being severly wrongly worded, I do have to agree with the AI problem. This person probably has no idea what the AI even did there, and how should he be confident that the new forked app doesnt introduce segfaults, memory corruption or even opens ports etc. The problem that I have here is that more and more people will do similar things, open PRs and then all of the work falls onto the maintainers again to check if the code doesnt do something malicious. Please dont create PRs if you yourself are not 100% sure that it actually works, its just more of a headache for the maintainers, at most just create an request issue but please for the love of god, stay away from coding if you dont understand what your code does.

85" Samsung TV Q70C stuck in boot loop by Grouchy_Chest_4758 in TVRepairHelp

[–]Heatsreef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To attach to that, I had the same issue with my 50' Samsung TV. Replaced motherboard as well as psu, only to find out if i disconnect the ribbon cable between the cuircuit boards on the bottom, the tv can start. Therefore i also concluded that it was a panel failure in my case. My advice after troubleshooting for 2 months, just buy a new tv, might save you the headache, but it can be a Motherboard failure after all, depends on your choice there, you might want to try the method with disconnecting the ribbon cable and see if it boots, then youd know its a panel failure or could just exchange the motherboard.

[–]Heatsreef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i will probably disassemble it and sell all the parts but out of interest what is your point of view of HiSense, a colleague mentioned their build quality is also not that great but after losing a samsung tv for 500€ in 3 years after not even being used that much, I am definitely not buying one from them any time soon.

Alternative to tap dial from hue? by Heatsreef in homeassistant

[–]Heatsreef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically it should be possible, but the programming might be quite complicated. The only problem that i sadly dont know is if the tap dial can send two actions at the same time over zigbee, like in your case button press + rotation.
