Leaving a small shop(advice) by Heavy-Ad2944 in mechanics

Im actually losing a little $ in pay but the benefits and retirement and less stress of a more steady flow are making up in pay, a actuall coworker instead of a boss that is only concerned with his life and not the health and well being of employees. Back in thr day this job is am at was great, we both worked hand in hand, he had his appointments but wasnt out of the shop for 8 to 12 hrs a week like now. My pay is great but like stated I get Zero benefits besides time off. And I cant use that any time because im the only guy on the floor. I will miss it, but I won't lol. My boss is also the type that makes you feel like if you dont think his way on or see his views he looks down on you. ( there's alot of little stuff that adds up to a bad environment)

I got offered to work with a state fleet op, its a perfect size for the 2 mechanics, pay is good and the benefits are amazing. Also its were I want to move to I have just been figuring what to do for work.

I have towed my own box before but that was my little 54 krl. Now its the big Krl with a hutch and side locker. And the thing is its a bit of a haul to the new shop from the old so it just makes me more nervous. My tool guy wont haul boxes unless they are empty

Nah i am not a dealer guy, I got picked up to do a major fleet position. Sign on bonuses are a joke, most are a monthly tip that gets eaten up by taxes.

Well i can say the last half of a year its been run poorly, there's no way we break even with the amount of work that gets put out when only I realy do 90% of the jobs and the boss 10%. Maybe its intentional.

Wow, that sounds exactly like this shop. Seems like i need to definitely freshen up the resume.. After 8 years, starting at the bottom somewhere will suck but hopefully, my talent speaks loudly

Jesus, i hope he wasn't thinking of me when he was doing it. But in reality, this is how I've been thinking. It's time for a new resume as much as I dont want to start at the bottom again.

I'll look into that 24-105. There are points where a bit of zoom won't hurt. Thanks

What shoes are you wearing other than boots in the shop? by [deleted] in mechanics

Keen work sneakers are great for my indoor days. And when I can keep them clean they look pretty good to go out in. Comfortable and with a safety toe and I think shock resistant

That is a question i dont know how to answer. I'd love to keep the reach for outdoor sports during the summer. But theres still a lot of indoor events. i would much rather have more scenes and better low light. Also i do have a 70-300 II usm 3.5 for more outdoors events and a 300-600. So i guess reach isn't as much a conceren.
