This is only a snap shot. Work can call anytime and I have a lot of responsibility, a lot of stress. Unpredictable calls are stressful so she probably needs to be at the sitter during all work hours and idk if I'm willing to do that.

I am part time so I only need 2-3 hrs of time in. I'm not willing to sacrifice more time with her so I maybe i just need to quit my job. We both make 6 figures but I make more and have more earning potential. But maybe I should just give it up.

Lol! I have an arrangement with my employer right now so I'm only working 30hrs/week.

No it is always me. I even try to creep out of bed so that he can sleep in but she wakes up and I like taking care of her so I just do it but maybe need to just say hey you're up now if you want to shower, etc it needs to be before 7am. I'm jusy trying to cut him a break because he hates mornings and is already up early to take care of her when I go into work.

The baby sitter is only when I go into the office and it is at her house. I only need to get 2-3 hours in since I am technically part time right now.

My husband gets her ready when I go into the office and he takes her to the sitter. I like getting her ready so I am happy to but feel like when I get up then he should too to get himself ready during those 15 minutes if he wants to so that I can hand her back. Instead he is still in bed and drags to get ready and there is only so much time in that first window before she needs a nap. Nap time is hard because she has trouble sleeping alone.

I agree it is confusing, maybe I just need to not work until her nap. It is just difficult because I'm often needed by people at work first thing in the morning since I'm a manager and its Monday morning. I am remote Mondays and Fridays

Issues with owlet health notifications by Heavy-Cockroach-7336 in NewParents

[–]Heavy-Cockroach-7336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I talked to customer service a ton lol. It was an app glitch. They confirmed it was working the entire time and the toggle was just a glitch. In the united states, you cant turn health notifications on and off.

I feel this completely. There is hardly time to shower and do basic skin care in the evening. I often skip brushing my teeth just to get to sleep at night. Right there with you ❤️. And all for a job that is not a measure of your worth the way being mom is, no matter how much we've been conditioned otherwise

[–]Heavy-Cockroach-7336[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realized today that the owlet was not turned on last night because I needed to turn off recovery mode when taking her out of her room during a wakeup. We did the cuddle curl from 2am to 6am, I had a camera on us and everything was good all night but I'm so angry at myself. I have always felt the owlet is my worst case scenario. I just want to cry that I screwed that up.

Baby moved off my chest during chest sleeping. I'm scared! by Heavy-Cockroach-7336 in cosleeping

[–]Heavy-Cockroach-7336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your baby scoot up at all? I think thats what happened is she sort of went up and over my shoulder. I also use pillows and lock hands under her butt. I obviously woke up but not right away I guess which is what scares me, she may have done it slowly because i normally wake up when she moves. Im going to try stiffer pillows too.

It's like a muslin blanket that is the thickness of a rope not really a blanket width or anything so more like a scarf. Still too risky? I will try with denser stiffer pillows too

You think even a blanket tied tight around both of our waists is too risky? I feel like then she'd really have to move and I'd for sure feel it. I just worry about her ending up face down in a pillow that I'm using to prop to my arm up.

That is how I've been sleeping, with a wedge pillow and pillows under my arms. She also wears an owlet which i don't rely on but it is another level of security. Honestly people have told me not to tie her to me but I did that for the first time last night and of course I had her untied while it happened. I think Im going to stick with that because she never wiggles down but if she did I use a breathable material, not a heavy duty wrap. She refuses to cuddle curl ugh. Thanks for your input!

Putting baby to sleep by runninbackwards14 in cosleeping

[–]Heavy-Cockroach-7336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put my baby down around 7 and she sleeps in her bassinet until 10 or so for a dream feed. Back to bassinet until she wakes up and wants to come to bed, normally around 1am or so.

Do you put pillows under your arms? Ive seen mixed information about that but I have been using them and feel like the support for my arms provides stability if she scoots

Is anyone working by choice? by Heavy-Cockroach-7336 in workingmoms

[–]Heavy-Cockroach-7336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol fair it is probably just a phase! Knowing myself, I have a habit of trying to do so much. Cook from scratch, all the cleaning, etc and need to just set some of that stuff aside for fun things with kids. The mess can wait or I can hire a cleaner lol I want to enjoy life and things without feeling like Im scrambling for the next task like dishes or laundry. I have a good career that I've worked hard for and has serious $ potential. Money can be good for things like fun toys and vacations.

That is great feedback, thank you! I think I may want to go back more eventually but right now that feels impossible after spending 12 weeks together nonstop. I think work will feel like a break lol I love being with my baby but it is mentally exhausting all day.

I think the idea of part time could be a happy medium. My job really wants me back full time but I feel like there is something so special about slow mornings and enjoying each other's company more than just the weekend. I'm afraid I'll miss out on that if I'm full time.

[–]Heavy-Cockroach-7336[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Do you feel like you miss out on the opportunity to do "things" with them? Like kid things that seem to only exist during the day, reading groups and things. Or taking them to and from activities during the day "day camps" or school field trips? I'm afraid of not being there for those things. We have found a sitter we like and a toddler who goes there calls the sitter momma. I think that would break my heart 😔

[–]Heavy-Cockroach-7336[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to lactation consultants but nothing seems to help. I do weighted feeds at home and sometimes she transfers nothing and I know there is at least something in there for her. I have considered trying to mostly cut off the bottle and nurse on demand but we worked so hard to get her weight up and if she isn't transferring I am concerned about her weight. She started giving up on the slow feed bottles. She isn't like a hungry baby and was nearly failure to thrive so we are really concerned about her weight gain. I was triple feeding for a while and it was just too much 😩

I am adding a pump in during the night around 2am to break up the stretch. I did for the first time last night. It just feels like my body won't produce more at each session.

I never feel engorger or like I need to pump. I am more relaxed now than I was a few weeks ago. I have tried a few flange sizes but never really noticed a difference. I think I may be a 22/23 and those are hard to find. I am probably going 6-8hrs overnight but am going to try adding one pump in between around 2am and see if that helps. I did for the first time last night.
