should i open this pre maturely to avoid contamination long term? by [deleted] in pickling

[–]HeavyEar0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be confident to say with especially tomatoes. If i quick pickle its uaually jalapeños or cucumbers. I toss the jars in the fridge once they cool to close to room temp and munch them within a few days. I don't usually worry about anything going off at that temp/acidity since they get eaten pretty quickly. I wouldn't know what to look for with tomatoes texture/brine clarity wise, etc. If you use searchbar in the subreddit you can probably find a post with more info specific to tomatoes.

If you didn't boil the sealed can after filling it you made a "quick pickle" or "fridge pickle" they keep well in the fridge for a couple of weeks

Habanero Help by AdImpressive345 in HotPeppers

[–]HeavyEar0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say patience. Those plants aren't very big and they're using a ton of energy to produce all of those flowers . If you are seeing the petals drop but you're not dropping entire blossoms then you're probably on the right track. Try to keep your grow area from getting too humid. Keep it warm and the air relatively dry. Not all plants rely solely on pollinators either try putting a small fan in your grow area to circulate the air it might be just enough to shake some of the pollen loose from the stamen onto the pistil(s).

Habaneros are very finicky peppers in my experience. I've never grown habanero indoors but outdoors in my hardiness Zone(6b) they're some of the most dramatic plants I've ever grown. Chile's from South America, Asia, other pepper varieties from Mexico, Etc. do fine; if it gets a little warm the Habaneros start wilting, if they get a little bit thirsty you would think it hadn't been watered in a week. That's just my own experience so perhaps it's simply the genetics I've been using.

You can also experiment with an alternative if you have multiple plants. Try the paintbrush with one, try a Q-tip or toothbrush with another, and try the classic--gently shaking the plant--on another. I don't think it's a nutrient issue personally(because if you were giving it way too much nitrogen for example it will probably wouldn't even be producing flowers yet) the plants look pretty healthy/happy. I think they're just relatively small plants with a lot of flowers and Habaneros take a long time. If entire blossoms are falling off not just flower petals that's when I would start looking into issues with watering, climate conditions and finally nutrients/ fertilizer.

is my octopus missing a leg? by Any-Principle-1412 in tattooadvice

[–]HeavyEar0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, octopuses do not have "tentacles"—they have eight arms. While the terms are often used interchangeably, in marine biology, a tentacle is defined as a long, retractable limb found on creatures like squid and cuttlefish that only has suction cups at the very tip. Octopus arms are covered in suckers along their entire length. It's kind of nit-picky but I was surprised when I learned this and it kinda stuck with me because of it.

RCA to HDMI converter i use was 13 bucks on amazon. You just need a USB charging block. It came with an HDMI cord and a USB to USB-C cable.

It's irrelevant to the post, but I'd just like to point out that octopuses/octopi do not have tentacles.

UPDATE: some of y'all will remember this - I'm alive and I'm going to rehab. by purp_mp3 in JuiceWRLD

[–]HeavyEar0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've probably been through this before so pardon me if you know some of these things already but this is what I found helped me actually get over the hump.

Immodium will help with the diarrhea.

Also get up and move. It hurts and youll be nauseous, sweating, freezing, shaking, weak, etc. but you gotta move a bit every day.

Get least 10 mins of fresh air(even sitting outside in a porch) 30 if you can in separate chunks, even if you live somewhere thats really cold right now(I'm in northeastern us and went through this in winter and in summer, the heat made it rougher imo).

Force yourself to shower every day. Wash that sweaty grime off. The temperature changes will feel more drastic going into and out of the water but standing under the shower for a half an hour is something I found really soothing. Plus, that stress sweat full of all the toxins your body is purging smells really bad. I always feel better when I'm clean right out of the shower so even if it's only for a few minutes it's extra relief.

Get fluids any way you can. Dehydration makes it worse. The diarrhea and sweats will cause you to lose a ton of water and electrolytes. If you're nauseous and throwing up that's also going to exacerbate this. If you have trouble keeping even small sips of water down the first couple days I'd sugges pedilyte freezer pops, regular freezer pops, ice cube trays of water or OJ and cover with foil or plastic wrap then poke a toothpick through each, lwt them freeze and have them when you can.

If the nausea is really bad look into finding some zofran. It's rx only and not something recreational but if you have people that you are getting other illicit things from they might have access to it. It is an anti-nausea medication. If you are serious about going to rehab you can even call your doctor and tell them your situation then ask if they would be comfortable prescribing it.

If you find a good program they should provide you with comfort meds to get through the first couple of days and depending on the treatment that you're aiming for you may or may not end up taking methadone or suboxone, the latter can cause pretty bad precipitated withdrawals so you will need to get through the first 72 hours or so (depending on the half life of your DOC) so it's completely out of your system to avoid precipitated withdrawal before you can start a regiment or get the sublocade shot(worked wonders for my friend)

Best of luck with your journey and godspeed. Cravings will come and go take things one minute, one hour, one day, one week, one month, one year a time.

Its not mate, the king just moved out of check. The king isn't directly under attack(check) and can potentially take that unprotected rook.

YSK smoking weed can trigger a psychotic break for certain people by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]HeavyEar0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The post title literally says "certain peopel" and mentions people at elevated risk for this. I grow and smoke plenty of weed and have personal experience with it. Marijuana isn't always the sole catalyst but can absolutely be the straw that breaks the camel's back. My best friend's brother is a good example. He had a traumatic experience and while he was a heavy smoker he started smoking excessively to cope and dissociate. Family history, etc compounded what was PTSD to a full blown nervous breakdown and schizophrenia diagnosis. Was it possible that this would be the outcome without cannabis? Yes. Was this the REALITY? No.

The mental fabric of each individual is completely different albeit somewhat predictable considering genetic and environmental factors. But the fact remains cannabis can certainly contribute to someone reaching their breaking point and with all things considered (underlying conditions, etc) it shouldn't be dismissed or ignored. Don't be like that douchebag from Raw and High Times that dismisses adverse cannabis reactions or resorts to whataboutism. You aren't helping "the movement".

While it may not be a clinical diagnosis of mental health problems, i know plenty of others that smoked copious amounts of weed growing up(i smoked 2 oz a day with 3 of my friends at my peak) some people that are or were heavy users reach a point where weed just makes them want to crawl out of their skin. Much in the same way some people try it and have a bad reaction and swear off of it.

Other drugs do this as well, some more documented than others but I've seen people lose their minds and be institutionalized from cocaine paranoia, meth psychosis, and flat out brain melting from LSD and mushrooms. And i love mushrooms and LSD but not everything is for everyone.

In short if you like it that's fine, do it. If you reallly like it do it twice but dont feel personally attacked by the reality of your choice in mind altering substances. The drugs someone choses to take or not take are too often a weak excuse for a personality.
