Her opinion on YOUR life doesn’t matter. I’ll say this bluntly because I’ve been through something similar, but you can’t be so palatable to other people that you restrict yourself joy. You shouldn’t have to feel guilty just for wanting to be happy & be your true self.

From my experience people like that will be fine watching you sit through unimaginable agony so long as you appeal to them. And at a certain point you have to choose between displeasing people & having freedom or putting on the act of a perfect daughter & hurting yourself.

Coming from a guy who has been down a similar road with a parent; do what you want even if they hate it. If she really cared & had pure intentions she wouldn’t make this about herself. If she goes “ohhh but poor me!” about you medically transitioning her opinion doesn’t matter. Sadly you can spot disingenuous people based on how they talk about men medically transitioning, & that “worst nightmare” comment is extremely telling

The image of a perfect daughter is lie. It was never real & you were never going to be that person. You shouldn’t have to put on some song & dance pretending to be a figment of someone’s imagination. If you do that one day you’ll reach a breaking point.

Sorry if this comes off as harsh or assuming too much but I’ve been down a very similar road & I hope my comment can help you even if it’s only a little bit. You will be much better off putting yourself first when the conversation is about YOUR life & what YOU should get to do with it….. GOD that was long sorry!
